Met up with a mate, who already has an Audi R8 V8, to check out a brand spanking new R8 V10. The salesman took us into the enclosed bay where the car was being kept. As soon as we walked in, WOW! The new rear diffuser, new wheels and colour just struck me as awesome! It was apparently only delivered to the dealer on Friday! The odometer displayed just 115 miles!! The car was started and I was blown away by the sound of that roaring 520bhp V10!

The salesman drove the car out with me in passenger seat, to a few miles just outside of Hove, where I got to get my mits on this beauty! It was damp this morning so the fun was limited, but boy was it still something else to drive! I hadn't driven the R8 V8 before so I couldn't compare them, but I did have passenger laps around the 'Ring in the V8 last year. The V8 is far too quiet, and doesn't quite feel that powerful; too smooth, if you like. The sound of the V10 engine is immense!!! :D

You only have to slightly feather the throttle and it snakes about while still pulling like hell! Not even a dab on the brakes and you near enough come to a stop. I obviously wasn't driving fast enough as the driving aides didn't kick in lol but you could certainly feel the power available. 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear are the best gears ever lol. Even in 4th gear sitting at 30mph through the streets of Hove, foot down and off it goes again! I certainly turned a few heads while making that V10 roar!:woot: The steering feels quite hard at first but extremely responsive. The clutch and gearbox is no difficult than any other everyday car; it's so bloody easy to drive!!

Got back to the showroom when my mate got to have his turn. Let's hope he chooses to upgrade!

That is such a sexy motor. Not seen one in blue before though. When I win the lottery.......

That's one hell of a car!

I wonder what the performance difference will be between this as the V8 around the 'ring. You will have to post up if he gets the upgrade and gets back out to Germany!

When my mate, Sean, pulled up outside his house, both Sean's V8 and the new V10 were next to each other.

I'm not a fan of the R8 originally, but when you see the V10 next to the V8, it has so much more presence and aggresiveness. The facelift changes make it the more mean machine it should be, as well as sounding like it should. When Sean took me out in his V8 last year at the 'Ring, you could barely hear the thing. The new wheels, flared sideburns, and new rear diffuser definitely shouts out like it should. Powerwise, I thought the V8 was far too smooth and you couldn't fully feel the power doing it's thang. Not in this, though... Bejesus Christ my neck muslces were doing a lot of work from both the sheer power and braking capabilities!

The driving experience of this thing is something else. I've driven a few E46 M3s and an Audi RS4 before, but this blows them apart (you'd expect a 100k car to do so!) The clutch and gearbox are effortless to work with. Dab the brakes and you near enough come to a stop. Not even half a throttle and it starts to snake in the former gears, and TC doesn't kick in too soon, so it gives you a chance to have a bit of fun. Even driving at 25mph in fourth gear, feather the throttle down and away it goes.

PS. We looked underneath and the real pipes are single exits on either side, and no bigger than a BMW 330's exhaust. So the chrome ends are fake! Still looks good, though!

i saw one of these on the A19 the other day then! i thought it was a different colour to ones i had seen before. it reminds me of the imperial blue from the mk5 Ford Fiesta :D

first pic looks great btw ;)

Quite a few of them over here, both V8 and V10 variants - a German TV personality/comedian local to us has a V8 and passed us on the autobahn a few months ago doing about 100 - so not caning it...we went past him to have a better look, so he pulled back alongside, slowly, then dropped back and then floored it so we got the full 'beauty-pass' treatment which was nice of him (he's a nice guy apparently...but German...)...

Have to say the V8 sounds pretty good from the outside when you're near the rev-limiter!!!

Auto-Union have come a long way, haven't they?

Lucky, lucky git :D I'd love to have a passenger ride in an R8 let alone drive the new V10 R8!
