Met up with a mate, who already has an Audi R8 V8, to check out a brand spanking new R8 V10. The salesman took us into the enclosed bay where the car was being kept. As soon as we walked in, WOW!
The new rear diffuser, new wheels and colour just struck me as awesome! It was apparently only delivered to the dealer on Friday! The odometer displayed just 115 miles!! The car was started and I was blown away by the sound of that roaring 520bhp V10!
The salesman drove the car out with me in passenger seat, to a few miles just outside of Hove, where I got to get my mits on this beauty! It was damp this morning so the fun was limited, but boy was it still something else to drive! I hadn't driven the R8 V8 before so I couldn't compare them, but I did have passenger laps around the 'Ring in the V8 last year. The V8 is far too quiet, and doesn't quite feel that powerful; too smooth, if you like. The sound of the V10 engine is immense!!!
You only have to slightly feather the throttle and it snakes about while still pulling like hell! Not even a dab on the brakes and you near enough come to a stop. I obviously wasn't driving fast enough as the driving aides didn't kick in lol but you could certainly feel the power available. 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear are the best gears ever lol. Even in 4th gear sitting at 30mph through the streets of Hove, foot down and off it goes again! I certainly turned a few heads while making that V10 roar!
The steering feels quite hard at first but extremely responsive. The clutch and gearbox is no difficult than any other everyday car; it's so bloody easy to drive!!
Got back to the showroom when my mate got to have his turn. Let's hope he chooses to upgrade!
