**ATTENTION ALL MEMBERS** Please read

ha ha very funny - now please change me back to what I was - woofy please?

yeah ok - but for some hiding behind a pic of someone else gives false courage - no?

And having a dog as your avatar means what exactly? It means nothing - it means that's the shot you picked on a whim at that moment... not really relevant to this conversation

RE the original point - manners cost you nothing. Simple.

Oh and any chance of getting rid of the popcorn emote? It only ever seems to exacerbate the threads that are likely suspects for going bad...

I have a photo of Matty on my pc . BUT i'm not allowed to post it.!!!!!!

md

And as for mod's avatars. There is a Court Order preventing some of them from publishing their pictures. Images that are a little less frightening have been substituted.

I think you may be right there!:D:D:D:D Will be ever know?

How? I always think it means someone is just watching the thread to see how it develops, perhaps it's sending out the right message  I would like to see a new emoticon for "Here we go round the mullberry bush" :D Sorry for being a bit off topic .... :)

sadly you have form..if i go to mod room and search for your name, its almost the highest result, behind photomad.

i say good call mods. i am/have moderated a few forums in my time and people very rarely listen to "quiet words". if it takes a temporary suspension as a warning then go for it.

that thread earlier was newbie bashing at its worst in my opinion.

and im not sure what anyones avi has to do with anything..

so members are treated differently then?

People can say what they want to me and get away with it?

You should look at some of the crap that
I get, from some mods and members its enough to make a grown snake cry :'(

It can (not always) come across as "oooh goody - there's gonna be a fight and I wanna watch it!" to me.

:agree: That's what I meant about it sending out the right message :)

Well said Hacker, is it me or am I imagining things, hacker posts a polite request for politness and the good nature as use to be and some still turn it into a mud slinging thread. If you don't like the rules or how it's run don't use the forum simple.
One last thing from me, mods and owners of Talkphotography you all have more patients than I have and I take my hat off to you all. Thanks (in general) making this a friendly and enjoyable forum.

sounds like you need some of your own advise :p

Do you think I would still be around if anybody upset me?

I am just confused as to how different members are treated different.

Nobody means anything to me on here you are just cyber people.

Quite a freudian slip that! But VERY true!!

Here at Talk Photography we have noticed an increase in the amount of antagonistic and rude behaviour towards some new members in response to their questions.

This type of immature behaviour is akin to playground bullying and will not be tolerated ............. etc etc.

Good call

I'm sure the majority on here (I was going to say 'all' - hey ho!) will agree that both sides of critique (+ve & -ve) are welcomed in the main forums but ill-concieved comments which are just out to incite a reaction or upset members need the attention they deserve. :rules: :boxer:

Most forums have a section for general off-topic stuff which also caters for the odd p1ss-take or two. TP has 'OOF' and if any place should be used if/when members want to talk shyte, then that's the very place imo and not the main forums where everyone should think twice before they post a comment that's likely to offend. :)

Just read the thread in question and fully agree that it was bad form, whether you want to believe it or not, it's bullying and the mods were 100% correct for handing out bannings.

Sadly, there's a good few on here who for some reason seem to think they should come across as arrogant and unhelpful as possible for whatever reason, on a regular basis. Thankfully, the good posters far outweigh the bad, but it's days like today that I fear the business section, which has helped me no end, could find itself going the same way as the wedding section. Ok, the thread wasn't posted in that section, but it related to business and it's when amateurs mention going into business all the snobs seem to get their handbags out.

Good work, mods.

i dunno you seem pretty miffed to me :D

personally when im moderating i give back the attitude i get from the user, postitive attitude = postitive response.

anyway im off to bed

Hi everyone,

I am a relatively new member here but i have seen some posts which appear to be generally impolite and seem quite sharp of tone.

I think it is always important to consider how the written word cannot accomodate intonation or expression and leaves the post open to misinterpretation. I would like to think that, in the main, the poster does not mean to present their views in such a manner and are simply writing like they would speak.

I quite agree that out and out rudeness and abuse of rules should not be tolerated.

In closing, i would add that i am continually surprised by the generosity, helpfulness and general comaraderie of the majority of members on the forum and appreciate how welcome i have been made to feel.

Best wishes,

Tracey

i'd agree about the popcorn emote btw and does this extend to the irc channel seeing as the no swearing rule also applies?

i.e - it's cool for someone to kick me repeatedly then ban me for no particularly good reason that i've been notified of?

i'm all for being nice to people, it's nice to be nice and nicer to be nicer :)

Jo just got 24 hours off for a comment that was bang out of order in another thread

who wants to discuss wedding pricing or webdesign?

webdesign is a great subject, you have made some really good posts about it...its the sales patter we dont need

Not sure about weddings though.. /shudder

Here at Talk Photography we have noticed an increase in the amount of antagonistic and rude behaviour towards some new members in response to their questions.

This type of immature behaviour is akin to playground bullying and will not be tolerated as it is completely at odds with the spirit and ethos of this forum and will only drive members away. Recent events in a thread have led to five members having some time off from the forum to think about their actions - our equivalent of the naughty step.

For those of you who wish to indulge in this immature behaviour please take note that further incidents of this nature will result in longer suspensions or even permanent bans if staff deem it appropriate.

First and final warning.

Thank you.
