I'm on the train to Manchester airport. Wired on free coffee etc. tomorrow I'll be at the acropolis and the hill nearby for the evening golden hour. Maybe early am I'll go up Lybecctus hill. Good views above. Good fun lugging the 800 around. But I will never weaken to mirror less. I'll just bulk up more. :)

IIRC, they tried to reduce the pollution in Athens by restricting traffic to cars with registrations ending in odd numbers on some days and even numbers on the others. All that did was make those who could afford to buy an extra car with an alternative final number! There is apparently a Greek equivalent to the MOT but looking at the number of cars we've seen for several years with the same significant faults, it's as much of a joke as parking restrictions are there!

Funny you mention it. I got a taxi run in a Mercedes like my previous E class. Every warning light on, 700k km on it, ran smoothly but the esp light error on, that's a big fix

YES, can't wait to see your pics :)

where about are you staying?
Staying up near Cornelia. To be honest I'm glad I've been to Rome and it's stunning but I have little desire to come back. The busyness, cost and crowded public transport don't give me joy, and due to the pick pocket/theft concern (I spoke to several who had passports, wallets taken) you're always slightly on edge. I'd go, make a list of what YOU want to shoot, and do it, once. I did get off the beaten track and it was great, but I prefer open spaces and long views. Down at the Tiber, the top of St Peters gives you that. But it's mobbed.

I liked shooting up at the top in the Copula but it was mobbed but the view is insane.

I'd return to Athens tomorrow if I could. I loved Greece, I loved Athens and the feel of the place. I just don't feel that love for Rome. Your money goes way further in Athens too. It's smaller so no unpleasant buses, metros etc, just take taxis. Much nicer.

Hope you've thrown your coin into the Trevi fountain to poness the guard off!

I sort of know what you mean, but you're quite far out... When I went I walked everywhere and didn't touch the public transport so can't really comment.

I just loved the grandness of the place, and the age of the architecture; pantheon, coliseum etc etc.

Have a good few days.

I'd like to head to Athens soon.

Thanks. I'm on my way home. The architecture really is something. I've seen and shot what I've wanted too. If I'm in Italy, again, which I plan to see the Dolomites and Almalfi coast when I get a car again I'll maybe pop in for a night or two...I'd really want a tilt shift lens to do some of the buildings justice.

But I'd sooner go back to Athens. Or Venuce.

Next city break will be a Spanish city

In Athens now. Beautiful as always. Only brought the x20 and a couple of film cameras. Liberating.
