You could do a lot worse than an Olympus.
I canon?![]()

careful now, you'll have irrate members making posts on other forums complaining that this forum is biased against canon...

A lot of it is down to the range of goodies. No matter what you shoot you can select kit to do the job from Canon and Nikon, the same cannot be said for the other brands.
From pocketwizards to grips..... most of the accessories will be for Canon and Nikon.
Then there are the lens ranges, I don't think anyone else make things like tilt shift lenses and when you want an ultra wide angle or long tele then much more accessible if you are Canon or Nikon.
You're right about ultra wides, Olympus do a superb 7-14mm (14-28mm equivalent) but it is rather expensive and the cheaper 9-18mm (18-36mm equivalent) may not be wide enough for some. However, I think Olympus rules the roost with telephoto options, both primes and zooms.
Really specialist lenses like tilt/shift are virtually out of the question, though. It's true that many can be fitted with an adapter and manual focus is not an issue, but the crop factor works against Olympus in this instance because you generally want a wide angle with these type of lenses.![]()
Hello,
Do Nikon and Canon produce the best cameras?
Cheers.![]()

Canon are closely followed by Pentax, Sony, Holga and then Nikon.

All of the top APS-C SLRs use sensors made by.....you know who..
As far as ISO performance is concerned Canon are starting to lag behind. Well if you believe DXOmark they are. All of the top APS-C SLRs use sensors made by.....you know who..
And they couldn't even make them look nice...
Interesting. When I brought one home "just for a borrow" my wife said "oh, so they didn't bother making them look nice then...". But nobody else dares tell me it's ugly to my face. I just traded in a very nice car for less than my 'blad cost.
why start a thread if your not intrested in what people think, also i think theres no need to be so rude.:nono:what's that got to do with anything?
& jeez! Is this thread still going?! I found my answer ages ago! I haven't read any of the posts after the 8th!

Am I the only one ever to wonder if Canon and Nikon actually come from the same parent company and are simply branded apart - like oh Gaymers Old English Cider and that Irish labelled stuff which turn out to be the same drink behind different labels?
After all, Ca non and Ni kon don't exactly sound like Japanese words do they?
I didn't mean to be rude, it just came out like that.
& maybe because I had already 40 people's answers?
I would have thought that people would've realised that I had found my answer... without dragging it on for another couple of unnecessary pages.![]()
When you start a conversation with 20 people in a pub, they don't stop talking after you walk off to the loo, do they?
Same thing here - Just because you start a thread, doesn't mean it's yours alone...it belongs to all of us once we get involved...
By that analogy the thread belongs to Matty and Marcel who own the train set. You merely suggested a game.

one thing to remeber is that old threads will always be brought up at some point as you may have your answer someone else might have a simular question or something to add to this, maybe if you dont want the thread to stay up ask a mod to close it.
and one thing to remember always is to be polite, theres some top people on here and its better to make good friend as they will help out.

nice one liam,Didn't think of it like that, good point.
But, I only said something because I didn't want people wasting their time posting answers that they think would help me. I found out earlier on in the thread that Canon and Nikon are the two main suppliers, but not necessarily the best. I should've stated that I'd found the answer and no more were needed. Sorry.
I honestly didn't mean to be rude, I can't stress that enough. It's just the way I phrased it. :bang: I feel like a right idiot now!
Oh well, you learn from your mistakes.
