Is it only me that thinks it is a little ironic that every other advert at the moment seems to be for Applepay?

The scary thought there is that there are developers about who think it is ok to just use their core tools from dubious sources. Very silly people who caused this.
Nope, the interesting thing now is that mobile devices are seen as the most used devices for accessing the internet, and so those people who would have previously attacked Microsoft products as the most popular have now moved to apple.
Also the affected applications came through the apple store, which apple have always claimed is heavily vetted and secure. What this shows is that it's no more secure or vetted than other vendor solutions.

I'd expect to see lots more of this occurring now.

Interesting piece of social engineering.

If I read it properly, the developers got tools which Apple provide for free from another source because it was faster to download. Usually it's people trying to avoid paying for stuff.

It was also quite a clever "long con". Apple are going to have to scale up their testing of apps - or maybe use some clever hash numbers to figure out if dodgy versions of the tools have been used. Either way, the words "stable door" and "horse" come to mind.

Exactly this is just one of those that is relatively easy to fix and scan for, and a scenario that wasn't that clear at first. They did used to charge for this.

I know so many people who use roms for their phones, or downloaded copies of operating systems, or add additional repositories. It is very silly behaviour.

I hacked an apple on saturday - in fact more than one :whistling:

it made a hell of a mess, but its a necessary precursor of pressing and the cider will be excellent.... :coat:

Silly behaviour yes, but also shows that the security of their app store is not as good as they'd have you believe either though.

My iPhone was hacked. I woke up one morning and this thing called "U2 - Songs of Innocence" had installed itself.

used to happen to me all the time , while i'd beenn out drinking evil hackers would text my ex at midnight, and bid on sports cars on ebay...
