Anyone with TalkTalk!! :(

I never have more money in a current account than I immediately need after my bank asked for confirmation regarding three transactions. If you had about £20 cleared balalnce, would you try and buy £500 worth of sporting goods?

If anyone receives a suspicious phone call/email contact your bank first and ask whether this is genuine
Every time I log into my account I am informed "we will never ask you for your full memorable information" which is after "username and password"

do they get your details and then scam you via a phone call?

That seems to be the only way so be sure to tell your mum NEVER to give banking details over the phone :)

With them here also, joined about 6 weeks ago Internet been fine though router is temperamental and trouble with bills from the get go

Had email from them telling me my bill is available to view DD 28th and can't get access for my account in fairness not their fault for hacking but how long does it take getting a web site back up and safe hopefully most data was encrypted

On the news they suggested some customers had terminated though not clear if they had a current contract term seems a bit closing stable doors after horse has bolted :runaway:

TT have a reputation of being one of the poorer comms providers, would be a good excuse tojump ship if they're waivering any termination fees.
I agree trouble is non of them are exactly reliable for example Virgin media pay for 150mbps and get 12 they still want paying for the 150 though. Sky took nearly 3 months with a loss of service issue in truth though I had 5 open reach engineers

I think they are all just keeping customers because whoever you go with they drop the ball what amazes me most is they all tell us the broadband is cheap just the line rental has to go up :D

Oh don't get me wrong, comms company's on the whole are some of the worst to have to deal with.

That said I've never had any bother from sky and am happily enjoying the full speed from my recent free upgrade from 100 to 150mb :D

Just that TT have a particularly bad reputation.

I'm tempted to say that they're all a load of wazzocks!

More realistically when you're settled in to an account with any isp it's usually pretty much ok so the tendency is just not to bother changing to another one. I've been with BT for years, it's not that they're any better than Sky or Virgin or TalkTalk or whoever it's just that they're not that bad that I want the hassle of changing.

I'm on infinity 2 now (basically fibre to the cabinet) and it's fast enough for what I need, mostly the service from BT has been good, it goes down occasionally late at night when they're updating, but not that often. The admin side is atrocious, and I really hate the Indian call centres. That's not a racist thing by the way, I couldn't care less what race or religion someone is, It's much more a nuance of language really, I'll explain... Technically the call centre people are pretty competent and pleasant people, but I one made one call where the guy just wouldn't accept me for who I was... My first name is William although I much prefer Bill and almost always go by that except when signing up for contracts and stuff. Now mostly anyone born in the UK or living here for years wouldn't bat an eyelid at that, William / Bill, James / Jimmy, Peter / Pete so what? Not this guy... I was a separate person all together! Bill did not equate to William at all. It was sorted in the end but we had quite an interesting conversation.

The bottom line is that no comms company will be totally secure or even competent. You pays your money and takes your choice.

TT `my account` still not up & running.

I just tried the 4 step online check at the TT Service centre:-

1. Checking your exchange
2. Checkiing your line
3. Checking your speed
4. Checking for known issues.

The test got stuck at step 4. Surprised it got that far since I am not with TT !!!

Wasn't it suggested awhile back it was most likely some spotty Oik in their bedroom?
He needs a paper round, that'll teach him some values, being out there all weathers :D

Yep,if it turn out to be the case,i bet he will get no more than a slap on the wrist :(

And a free phone with unlimited data contract...

Actually, a job with Norton or similar is more probable.

This is an example of what education can be used for if not directed or controlled. Probably a poor neglected boy who needs help and time in a young offenders centre to learn more hacking techniques from his peers???

He will probably get a supervision order.
supervised some where in cheltenham as an apprenice government hacker.

He'll be a bacefook & youtube star before you know it. Someone to admire by all the scrotes.

One of the financial institutions or someone like Symantec will be offering him a job in a year or so. He might be a little s***, but he's a talented little s***.

So if somebody break into your house,is he an talented little s***

What is the connection type that provides 150Mbps? I'd have to bond two FTTC connections to get that sort of throughput, and while I could (the ISP I use supports bonding multiple lines on the same login as either load balanced or failover), it would be expensive

Breaking into my house wouldnt make him talented, no. Mainly because my house is relatively easy to break into. All you need is a brick or a crowbar and youre in.

Credit where credit is due. I dont agree with or condone what he did. But what he did was not easy and required a bit of skill, knowledge and luck.

Credit where credit due your moral compass is way off,a lot of crime require some skill & knowledge and luck,or is this because it seen as a white collar crime, you don't happen to be a banker or work in IT ?:(

If you'll just hop down off your high horse for a minute and re-read my post you'll notice I said I didnt agree with or condone what he did. Nothing wrong with my moral compass thanks. And no I dont work in IT or banking, not that its really any of your business.

Its not a high horse i am on its a bloody annoy horse who like to use its back legs to kick the little git, rather than give him any credit at all

i guess he is talking fttP rather than fttC - i would like it but it is not supported where i live

`My account` STILL isn't up & running yet.
Their online chat wasn't available for most of the day.

Broadband dropped off about 6.15 this eve for about 30 mins. & our speed is down a tad now.

It seems to be taking such a long time to get everything back to normal.

Another 16 year-old arrested in Feltham in connection with the hacking.

Shocking such a large company can't it's web presence running again :runaway:

Its web presence is running, ( www.talktalk.co.uk ), but obviously they are taking time to try to get the customer account secure before putting it up again ... quite sensible bearing in mind just how many large companies have been affected by data theft in just the last few weeks. :)

I managed to get into www.talktalk.ru earlier. Filled in the personal details along with my bank PIN and security answers. Just waiting for them to get back to me. Not sure why they needed all that stuff - I'm with EE...
