I also know a number of people in the IT industry who aren't to keen on them.
My main work is as Lead Software Developer for one of the UK's largest mobile networks, and deal with alot of IT companies every day and know just as many Mac users as Windows, on the desk I am sat at now there are 5 Mac Books and 6 Windows desktops. For the design industry (whether Photoshop, Or 3D design, Maya, Lightwave etc) I believe OSX is just as popular as Windows.
I think you will always get Fanboys and haters. I sit somewhere in the middle with a slight leaning towards Apple, and 9 out of 10 times you'll find that people who dislike an Apple product do so without using one, and do it to be objective.
Also alot of Mac Fanboys have alot of hate for Windows and Microsoft thats wholely unjustified most of the time.
Apple products are normally very well built and reliable, and with OSX roots in the *nix pool its my OS of choice. But then alot of other machines are similarly well built, and although I have had more issue with standard laptops and tablet PC's (Acer in particular) I still own Windows machines and one of my two Mac Books is dual booted between windows and OSX. It really is a personal taste situation.
