totally ballsing up routes into Glasgow too - some people have actually been moved from their houses. They should foot the bill not us particularly in this time of hardship.

anyone coming to see the pope here in London, he is causing chaos already.
Roads and foot paths blocked off don't know what all the fuss is about :shrug:

Former member of the Hitler Youth who turned a blind eye to paedophilia amongst his colleagues and denies contraception to some of the poorest people on this planet

Probably won't be bothering then

I think the whole idea of the pope is a bit ridiculous. As has been said, he's only a man and what's he there for. Didn't do a lot of good between 1940 and 45 did he.

Nope, I don't support any religions and it annoys me we are paying so much money for a head of one to visit (yes, alright, apparently its a country and he's the head of it as well)

Your joking aren’t you? ....photo opportunities like that in Trafalgar square would be front page stuff!

There’s probably a rule against it over here … they could fall and hurt someone if the nails didn’t have the right flat heads … you gotta consider these things.

In second thoughts I could ask him to have a word with the congregation of the catholic church opposite my house

Maybe that would stop them blocking my drive every week, polite and otherwise requests have never worked so perhaps the fear of a papal smiting would do the job

We are safe from royal visits because of the towns Cromwell connection, presumably it would keep the pope away too

"if you build it, he will come "...........er Kevin Kostner..?

I had that problem once. Some very sticky labels across the windscreen at drivers eye level soon cured it.

My is a devout catholic and i am a convert though not as devout. We both feel terrible about the pedophile crisis and the way it hand has been handled. The vast majority of priests are very good and moral people. The Catholic church on the whole gives very good moral guidance. A lot of the problems we have in this country are caused by a breakdown in moral values.

Billy Graham used to draw a big crowd, Jimmy Swaggart and Jim Bakker seemed to make a good living too

Must be some money in this religious business if you can get thousands of people buying papal packs at 25 quid a shot, maybe thats where Paypal gets it name from?

Since when has religion been a positive thing!?! ... no you right don't answer that ... ;)
QUOTE]

Most easily answered by the example of a lack of religion in society - look at today and the level of crime, rugs etc etc we have nd compare to the 1950's when we were a much more religious nation. not debating this as I think everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I am not really bothered enough to try and changes someones opinion on a sensitive topic on a photography forum.

But if you are happy with that belief, that's fine.

:)

Absolutely!

The Church of Rome, extending and prolonging the political and financial power of The Roman Empire since AD 325.

sooooo most of us are paying for a religion that we dont support XD... id like a rebate

I must constantly have photography on the brain... took a while to figure out what religion had to do with XD (memory cards)...

Pfff, by and large people are moral. Doesn't require a holy scripture. Cooperation and social behaviour even even works with toddlers. Which is -together with language - one of the distinguishing features between humans and apes. Basically, your priests are slightly delusional but benevolent minds (by and large, some people are known to break under sex withdrawal).

Well, I'm sure there was "plenty" to steal in the fifties. Lots of spare bricks around for sure. A few Luftwaffe bombs as well.

thankfully I'll be going the wrong way on the underground tomorrow up to hillhead and when I leave the lab the mass will have started.

I respect your faith and any comfort and moral guidance it provides for you but it is naive to suggest (and it is only my personally impression that you are suggesting this...) that the decline in moral values in this country has anything to do with religion... it hasn't. It has to do with a culture (and government!) that encourages people to believe they have the right to have everything now and pay later (greed!)... that they have the right to plenty of R&R time to recover from their hard days of doing Sweet FA (Sloth)... that they should feel chuffed to bits when they get wolf whistled or leered at for looking good (Pride)....Oooooh hang on a minute... I'm on my way to listing the 7 deadly sins aren't I? That's a catholic thing!.... sorry that will be the guilt ridden ex-catholic in me! My children will be raised to understand that waste is bad, kindness and generosity are good and that they should treat others as they wish to be treated...they will never have to "feel terrible" on behalf of an organised religion...they will be responsible and accountable for their own actions and not those of others.

As for the Pope, sadly I see him as nothing more than a religious celebrity, I wouldn't waste my time making a special trip to see a celebrity ofany kind... far too busy taking pictures ;)

TP project..?
the best shot of zillions of coaches and cars grid-locked on the M8..?....:D

in all seriousness,

I hope those who do believe, have a day to remember

Strange that..........they aren't getting the numbers they thought ,so the Catholic schools are going to bus loads of children to the meetings....

In other unrelated news, Scotland's entire supply of chastity belts has mysteriously sold out overnight!

I did that once with a persistent Customs officer who kept parking in my spot.

Police came to my door and said he had come to the station complaining and they had to boil a kettle to get the label off,

Told the PC about all the polite notes I had left and that had been ignored ,He just smiled and asked me not to do it again...........
But I didn't need to as the message got across

Are you pondering, what I am pondering, Pinky?

that was actually a polite statement to somewhat balance the negative statements made here

a pity you could not see that.....:shake:

FWIW ...non religious myself , but try not to comment on others beliefs

I won't be seeing the pope, but if he buggers my journey on Friday, well god help him....

Seems from the news recently that if he were to "b****r your journey", then it wouldn't be the first thing that a senior member of the Catholic church has buggered recently.............. alledgedly....... :exit:

My wife had to go to Glasgow today to see a friend in intensive care. She was worried that she wouldn't get through the traffic. She's just rung me and there was very little traffic so maybe it's not worth worrying about.

I am not a Catholic but I am a Christian and I am offended by the anti Christian threads on this photography site sometimes. I thought that religion was a No no topic on TP. If not then it should be.

and there was very little traffic so maybe it's not worth worrying about.

...mass is at 3pm ...coaches are told to arrive at 12noon

assuming 50-70,000 people then it cannot be anything but gridlock I'm afraid

£12 million to cover security for the pope's visit.....that should be enough to ensure the under 10's of the Uk are protected from the pope and his crew..........

only a few roads were shut today - lots tomorrow
