A reply from the oldestswinger on my thread on recital nerves (that's RECITAL nerves Mr Cobra ) got me thinking. I know he's a drummer, and I know TheMusicMan is all clever on keyboards, but does anybody here play an instrument?

I'm a percussionist (classically trained :p). I play Drumkit, Tuned percussion (Xylophne, vibraphone, marimba etc) and timpani plus all the other lovely little toys. I'm also a vocalist. I'm in the Army as a musician in The Light Cavalry Band, and also play for Weymouth Concert Brass. I won't put the picture of me playing the drums up, I've already posted it up twice tonight lmao.

So any other musicians here?

Guilty as charged

I've had no formal training, but I play the flute and have played if for most of the past 22 years. I really need to spend some time with it and pick it back up again.

I wouldn`t call the noise I can achieve with my guitar music as such......

But it`s good fun!

I play Guitar.... badly!! lol..

I started out on Drums, hated those. Began playing the piano, achieved Grade 5, Also played Clarinet and also achieved Grade 5. Being a clarinetist and appreciating a good blues/rock track, I started playing Saxophone as well.

Further more, I have 3 Guitars (one being my lovely Jackson Stealth EX Professional signed by Steve Vai in '97) and a 30th Anniversary 100w Marshall Amp.

The devil incarnate that is shift work, kinda put a blocker on any chance of continuing to play on a semi to full time basis :(. having a nearly 10 month old Son also takes up a lot of my time so I have to admit, I've very rusty and out of touch. I still pick up the Jackson once in a while and play along with afew Joe Satriani tracks.

i'm an audio tech does thar count ;) if anyones near sexeter (exeter) do let me know as i run/have to do with quite a few gigs/open mikes

I am also trained on, and can play many Brass instruments... such as the cornet/trumpet etc... Have conducted many bands too.

Maybe there's an opportunity here for a group of togs to put on a "show" at the TP Convention in October???

I won't even go into what my fees are!

Good to see a good response here, and to see engineers etc too. I'm also a trained engineer, but whilst working in theatresI tended to work more on the lighting tech and design side of things. Although I've got an A level and a couple of other little quals on sound and music tech.

I play guitar also, mostly Bass.I was professional for 5 years, good fun but not alot of money. Semi-retired (Playing wise) now, but still gig occasionally

I used to play bass, now I play at it. Got an upright last year to see what that's all about. It's Gooooooooooood. :D

I have a duduk that I'm very slowly getting to grips with and I really really want to get my hands on a cello next.

I played b flat clarinet years ago. Nowadays I play a bit of keyboard, but it's getting sadly neglected of late, as are the two guitars which look good hangin' on the wall, I've forgotten most of the basic chords I learned I think.

 Thanks Chris got that now :D
I'm good on the fiddle, or so my accountant say's (no idea what he means though  )

Crap keyboard many years ago but nothing since

Got a couple of geetars knocking aroudn that get dusted off once in a while. Used to be able to play the trombone too... very badly though!!

Tend to make my music on computers these days - see my myspace addy below

I used to play the cornet, and moved onto the flute, and havent touched it in years :(

All these people who used to play and don't anymore! Sort it out people! :D

Id rather be togging than playing my flute now :D

Ok, I'll own up to thinking it but is anyone actually going to type it? :suspect:
:whistling:

Do both! That'd be a neat trick!

Daz: Bad lad! I wasn't thinking that at all :suspect:

Lots of guitarists :) One of the guitarists in the rock band I play with had his eye on a Manson guitar, but couldn't afford the £3k price tag  So he took his Ibanzez series 3 and his Fender showmaster to manson and had them put nailbomber pickups, a fernandez sustainer and a fuzz-factory in each of them

i play drums

thanks -i used to play acoustic - played in lots of bands,(started with a marching band) had lessons and learned to read music etc - was spending 4-5 hours a day playing.

i just play for fun now and the electric kit means i can play any time without waking up the whole world - i miss the acoustic kit though - maybe one day...

anyone into drumming will find a lot of really hot clips of other drummers on my youtube web space

All you drumists have a search for Mike Portnoy, he's incredible. He's the drummer for my all time favourite band, Dream Theater.

yeah mike is great (i have all the albums, dvds etc of dream and translantic) - i have left mike out of the list of drummers on youtube (and neil peart, and buddy rich) as lots of drummers know all the stuff these guys do - my latest fave drummer is chris adler (lamb of god) - i saw the band in Bristol last week - fantastic

tonight i'm listning to dennis chambers - a new drummer to me (how did this guy miss my radar?)- very very fast  and very cobham...
