They all look good to me, Stuart but I do have a soft spot for the SanJia!

Definitely one of my favourite knives.

Where did they come from Gary?

The one with the black sheath was allegedly used to finish off victims of the German firing squads

All the lock knives were bought from Franklin mint

I like the left hand one in the last shot particularly. I don't think I could give house room to the sheath knife though if it really was used to murder people..

I don't really believe it myself but that's what ive been told its had the makers name ground off it for some reason

I agree, this doesn't sound very plausible. German firing squads could refer to military executions following a court martial, the murder of civilians as a reprisal, or the mass murders carried out by the Einsaztgruppen but I've never heard of the victims being finished off with a knife. Giving the coup de grace by shooting was the usual procedure or, in the latter case, simply dumping the dead and wounded into mass graves.

Regarding Hugh's point, I don't know if it would trouble me. A knife is just an artefact. It has no culpability or emotional connection to its use, and just about any weapon used in a military context - in recent or older conflicts - may have been used to commit murder. Most collectors will never know.

Three much anticipated babies from FastTech today. I must say I'm both impressed and a little disappointed, all three needed a lot of cleaning to make them halfway presentable.

First up the top flipper I spoke of before, scales and handle are very nice and though the first shot doesn't show it they're blue, the flip is super smooth. The blade is very sharp but had a couple of marks on it that won't come off.

Next up. the LAND, supposedly SRMs up market brand, again very sharp and feels lovely and well put together. Let down a bit by the blade logo being (it appears) painted on as it started to come off with the cleaner I was using.

And lastly my copy of Mikes blue Boker :D

Scales have some dings and scratches in them and it's a bit stiff but it's still nice for a £3 Boker

Just did a paper cut test with all three, the boker - meh. The Land - oooh sharp! the top flipper - probably the sharpest thing I've ever come across, it's scary sharp and just glides through the paper like it wasn't there.

I do like that Land and the flipper looks good too.

My Boker was nicely scratch free compare to yours but definitely took a bit of sharpening.

I also loosened mine off a wee bit, that's how I know the quality of the screws were much better than my Cima.

Had a closer look at the logo on the SRM Land (PR-905) and it seems fine. I think what may have been coming off was residue from the etching process.

The Enlan EL04 Bee with Micarta scales. About the same size as the SRM Land above, chunkier but just as sharp. The micarta scales look very nice but a wee bit rough round the edges, I'm pretty sure a little bit of work with a craft knife will clean them up nicely. Because of the design this one is as good for lefties as righties though the clip isn't reversible.

Another little one. I was buying some bits from HH and picked this as a filler because I've wanted to see what a Mazerin knife was like quality wise..

Mazerin Marinera. Very nicely finished UK legal folder with brass liners and olive wood scales. It's a bit tight to open, down to the back spring which isn't adjustable so hopefully it'll ease off with a bit of use. It looks a lot bigger in the picture than in real life, 65mm blade.

Looks a bit on the plain side for £13, Hugh.

Nice quality though, if I can get it to loosen up a bit it'll be a user not a drawer queen.

Was expecting a couple of knives from Gearbest but only one in the package, just wondered if the package had been opened, yet why remove one knife?

I noticed the envelope had a yellow sticker attached saying "Goods not fulfilling the conditions prescribed by Articles 9 and 10 of the Treaty establishing the European Economic Community"

Anyone ever had that recently?

I can't raise a ticket at the Gearbest site either:eek:

Anyway, the Enlan knife seems quite well made, it has a couple of wee marks in the wood and is not exactly sharp out of the box:oops: :$

Feels nice in the hand though eh?

Re the article 9 thing from what I can see it has nothing to do with confiscating anything, it's just a warning that the package was mislabled as coming from within the EU when in fact it came from elsewhere. You'll need to get in touch with GB about the missing knife, whether it was removed or not sent.

Aye, it does that, Hugh and have now got it nice and sharp.

Always fancied that knife, especially since you were pleased with it.

Thanks for the info, it was sent through Dutch post but has Chinese writing on the label.

The GB site seems to have problems all day, certainly on the support side!

Their support is ok but you'll have to work to convince them that a) there's a problem, b) it's their problem and c) you're not going away no matter how many form emails they send you. Once you get past that I'm sure they'll sort it, assuming they have actually sent it, did the package look like it was meant to have more in it?

Hard to say but usually there are a couple of knives in the packet.

They only showed one package when they shipped it.

As for the customer service, we are old friends after a few problems over a year or so.

The problem at the moment seems to be a formatting error on the ticket website, hopefully they will sort it out in a day or two:rolleyes:

You're right, I have a ticket open for a missing knife myself but it's not showing up.

Check out HH, a couple of new folders there Rui Ranger and Jungle, 3.7mm thick blades! from £23. I'm guessing these will be Chinese :)

I quite fancy the Ranger.

I quite fancy the Ranger.

Like both but love that handle on the Jungle one.

Saw those earlier very nice!! Had my para military clone arrive today from gear best (ganzo). Very impressed really sharp like most ganzos but quality is so good for the money. Axis lock is a little stiff but few drops of 3 in one should sort that with some repeated openings.

Well I had to order one didn't I? :)

Made in China Republic of... 21cm long when open, I'd say the blade is just about 4mm thick for 1/3 the length then tapers off and sharp on the sharp side. The knife is very chunky looking but is actually quite slim because scales are very thin, they're hard plastic with a rubberised finish that is comfortable to hold. The 'Titanium' coating seems a bit crappy on one side, in the image it looks worn off but doesn't look so bad in real life, that's the only poor thing I've found about it so far, it's very well put together, rock solid when open and well centred, flips nicely too. The pouch is nice, all the usual webbing bits on it.

I've just received these two blades from a Polish custom knife maker, Marcin Tomaszewski (Killrathi on British Blades). I'll sort some nice bits of timber for the scales.

Nice, I like his work, it's very functional (compared to some of the makers who make beautiful knives that I wouldn't dream of actually using for fear of marking them).

I do like the shape of that blade, Stuart,

I also didnt realise you get gear best points for confirming receipt of your order!

!?!?!?... neither did I, /heads off to acknowledge all his orders.

I noticed this by accident last year.

My missing knife was because of supplier problems, they never told me and still have it on sale too!
