Any knife/weapons collectors on here?

I was a posh kid :) in the ATC but still got to fire a Lee Enfield, about all I remember is it was bloody heavy and kicked like a mule!

Yes, they do have a bit of a kick - 180 grain bullet, and although designated .303, they are actually .311.
Much more humane than a .243 on deer, and identical in ballistic performance to a .308 out to 120 yards.

Bit miffed with FastTech, I got a 'your package has been sent' email on the 27th, tracking shows it finally being posted today, 5 days later.

Mines went on the plane on 1st March so guess I'm in the lead:p

Different sender but I have had emails telling me items have been despatched arrive after the item.

I'd rate the SMLEs as the finest military bolt action, and the Mauser 98 as the best sporting bolt action.

AFAIK, the bore measures .303 across the lands and .311 across the grooves. That sort of thing has caused a fair amount of confusion over the years! The cartridge doesn't generate a great deal of recoil, but felt recoil in the SMLEs can be uncomfortable, particularly in the No 5 Jungle Carbines. I think it's down to the stock design and short length of pull though.

It was popular as a bush cartridge in Africa years ago, using the old 215 grain round nose bullets.

Yes it is, I found it a good while ago and he never fails to inform and amuse.

Two knives arrived from GearBest this morning with free flat rate delivery.

One of them was the one I had been trying to get since last September too!

So that means FastTech well gubbed even after paying for their delivery:mad:

Will put up photos when I get a chance.

First up is the San Jia knife I have tried to get several times.

Just as sharp as Sanrenmu with a lovely build quality, how do they make this for just under £4.50?

Next is my first Cima knife, arrived in a nice box with silica gel, nearly as sharp as the San Jia and with a 7Cr17Mov blade.

Not sure it's the same quality as the Sanjia, even at well more than twice the price, but time will tell!

Got one myself today and a couple more waiting for a signature at the post office. This one's from GB, little thing, only 11cm full length, 4cm blade. Sharp as all SRMs are but very tight to open.

I like the look of the Cima Mike, better than the SanJia.

Had a wee warning bell when I noticed it was a locking one.

Sure enough Gearbest say it's non locking, ticket time methinks!

The sharpener thingy has just arrived, will have a play later.

That's the one. Done a couple of old kitchen knives as trial runs. Only used the coarsest stone on them and they've come up a treat! The suckers don't stay stuck down for long on our work surface - might have to figure out a better way to clamp it down. Easy to use when it's clamped/stuck properly.

The suckers don't work on mine either, I use the weight of my hand to keep the base in place. I only use any real force on the rough grit stones, getting lighter as I move up so it gets easier to hold in place.

The package that I had to sign for today was an extra smooth 3000 grit stone for the sharpener, not the knives I was thinking it might be.

Nod, handy hint time - get a fine sharpy type pen and write the grit number on the side of the stone so that when the printed words wear off you'll still be able to tell which is which.

Already done. Going to engrave the numbers in the plastic side when I dig my Dremel out.

I ended up pressing down on the blade to hold it steady on the guide and the whole thing down. Got 2 grooves in my left thumbnail where I caught it with the stone...

Well quite shocked to recieve an email form gearbest yesterday only a few hours after ordering saying my package has been sent..even had a picture of it with my address label etc and a tracking number for belgium air mail, pretty good eh! Usually takes up to a week before i get notification its been shipped.

Indeed! I also placed an order yesterday but no superfast dispatch for me.

Nice one for the pocket, Stuart.

Well my first order from FastTech arrived this morning, three days later than the free delivery from GearBest despite, being shipped the same day:confused:

Anyway only 20 days from ordering it, so shouldn't moan.

It's labelled a Boker Plus but it is the same knife I ordered.

Neat wee thing, although not overly sharp, will put up a pic when I get home.

GB are letting me keep my Cima and giving me $5 credit too, so will have a wee hunt around their site later.

Boker Plus because it's made in China, I read somewhere and I think posted before that SanRenMu make the Plus knives for Boker.

Aye, you probably did but the point I was trying to make was that FastTech never mentioned hide nor hair about Boker on their website.

Portable Folding Wilderness Survival Knifeblue / aluminum alloy + stainless steel / w/o lock........

Anyway, it's a very neat and dumpy wee knife with a satin finish blade, just exactly what I was after:)

Looks very well made but could do with a wee sharpen.

Gotcha, I did search FT for Boker and they do sell three so I assumed it was one of those you'd bought. I do like the look of that one though, the blue scales and the wire clip work well.
