who do you think will win next year?
Will any of the new teams be any good?
Has Jenson made the biggest mistake of his career moving to Mclaren?

Mercedes or Red Bull I think will win the champ for constructors and Vettel will take the crown.
Virgin F1 might be one to look out for - well when it changes it name to that..
I think Jenson has made a massive mistake moving to Mclaren - but I would love to be made wrong

I think Jenson has made a good move, the McLaren's will be very strong next year.
I also looking forward to seeing how the new teams perform not sure if any of them will have the same sort of impact as Brawn did this year

It depends on which teams manage to play the rules and regs game the best next year. Brawn did it brilliantly this year and it payed off with 6/7 wins in the first half of the season before the other teams caught up.
I totally disagree with teams that center themselves round a single driver, the other is no more than a glorified test driver really. Ferrari did it for years with Schmacher, resulting in some farsical scenes. They should both be treated as equals until one has a good lead at some point in the season.

Button made a big mistake, his averageness was exposed in the mid season, and will be exposed all of next season.

i think we;ll see mclaren, ferrari and redbull up at the front, with alonso, massa, hamilton and vettel the drivers to watch.

personally im not sure button will get on well on mclaren id like to be proved wrong but im not convinced hes anything more than a midfielder in a good car.

of the new teams personally i think that manor (or virgin as im sure it will become in the coming months) will be the best of the new teams, they have the design brains and computational ability of nick wirths company behind them. i dont expect much next year from USF1, campos or lotus tbh atleast tororosso and force india will have someone to fight with i guess.

of the confirmed new drivers the only one who makes headlines really is bruno senna and i think he might struggle to be anywhere near the front,

JV is having a crack at getting fit too..not sure who he could drive for, but USF1 are being touted?

John Virgo is taking up F1? :p

but JV was crap in his last years at sauber and all hes done since is a bit of nascar and gardening, why would a team really want him? then again you look at the list of people that USF1 are being connected to in the press and compared to most of them he looks more than capable!

I think in the 1st race we are going to see:

Hamilton starting from grid postion
Massa starting from 2nd
Jenson starting from 3rd
Alonso starting from 4th
Schmacher staring from 5th.

First corner they will all fight and crash

2nd, 3rd 4th etc etc races will be the same.
They are all big rivals and are not going to give a position on the 1st bend so chances are the season will be like this.

Makes it interesting for the smaller guys :)

Be interesting to see IF any of them crash into each other at Silverstone next year.

:D:D:D I reckon they will :D:D

let's just say there's interesting stuff ahead.....Which is why i said which rather than if.......

I was referring more to IF there is a Silverstone for them to crash AT.

I am not a gambling man but my money is on the Virgin team making the top 3 in the constructors down to RB chucking bucket loads of cash their way like he did for the bikes not for the publicity of course.........only for the sport

do we really think Schui will be back?

I cannot see it - and itv-f1 cannot either

but then who knows...

By the way US F1 picks Jose Maria Lopez???? Who's he?? some person who won a championship in 2003 but has not done well in anything else....

Massa, Hamilton, Schumi?!, Vettel, Alonso, Button all in good cars.. shaping up to be the best season in a while.

jules verne !!!! , thought he was long dead

I think Button deserves some credit for making the move to McLaren. It would have been easy to avoid the obvious comparison with Hamilton by driving for someone else but Jenson has put himself in a position where there should be (as much as ever in F1) a fair battle between two Brit champs. I think Hamilton will come out on top but good on JB for making it interesting.

I dont think JB's move will make it interesting, there is no denying that Hamilton is a far superior driver to JB and LH will wipe the floor with him. JB is there because Heikki is poop and JB is a 'better' Heikki, and will be there to pick up the pieces whenever Hamilton drops the ball.

I am looking forward to next season though, so many highly rated drivers in very good cars. Hopefully Red Bull will keep up the development because I really want to see Vettel do well again next year. A few more seasons and he'll be a well matured, unstoppable driver.

Be interesting to see what happens with this Schumacher thing - but from what I've read, the only 'clue' to this happening is Eddie Jordan having seen Ross Brawn, Schumi and a high ranking member of Daimler talking. Thats hardly a big deal and I'd be amazed to see Schumi jump ship and join Mercedes GP.

The off season is starting to become more interesting than the actual racing :p

I dont like ddie jordon, hes like a guy who isnt popular desperately trying to be popular by knowing these people and trying to break the story early. Hes gonna look a tit if its crap

Jesen has gone way down in my estimation showing no loyalty to Ross Braun who gave him the chance to be World Champion and should he break down in every race next year I will shed no tears

I don't think it's just a question of loyalty to Ross brawn. RB has done very well out of it with the sale to Mercedes and if anything there should also be some loyalty to the driver who has just won you the world championship by offering a package that is fitting for the role.

F1 success is never down to an individual effort. This season has shown that no driver is that good that they can win in an uncompetitive car and the team cannot win if the driver underperforms/crashes. Unforunately, every team is subject to the potential conflicts that are going to occur with a collection of huge egos.

Yes but your forgetting it isn't BBC F1 it's BBC Eddie Jordan show... well it was this season - thankfully he finally stop talking about Jordan F1 near the end and David gave him some stick... would be nice if hes wasn't around next season (eddie that is)

David was linked to a DTM drive - so not sure about him for 2010

I think Ross sold Brawn GP at the right time - like he said, it was the right time to take the team forward with stability - if you read between the lines mid season with Branson talking about the sponsor he was hinting then that he was going to move to take over the other team to be Virgin F1 and hinted Brawn might change in more ways than one...

Roll on 2010 - it's going to be a great year.. even if Silverstone isn't on the map

From what I heard Mercedes at Brawn wanted a complete German drivers team so Button didn't really have a choice. I think Button will come second best to Hamilton at Mclaren as Hamilton will always be their number 1 driver and anyone else is just a support driver.

Button is a good driver and very highly regarded in the pits. It has been commented by several other drivers that Button is the smoothest driver out there, so much in fact that he had issues with not scuffing his tires up enough to get them properly gripping. That said, Hamilton is by far the more aggressive driver and that will get him the podiums.

I reckon that the next season will be good, no fuel stops should shake things up a bit!!

I have been watching F1 for more years than I can remeber, with no particular affilitions.

For the first time ever I would say I can't wait for the new season to start.

And I think LH will be head and shoulders above JB, even if JB can get McLaren to build him a totally different car to the one they will make for LH to suit his smoother driving style.

Alonso at Ferrari, well lets hope he fires them up a bit, will also be watching Kimi in the WRC with interest (but not spectating any time soon - run here comes Kimi again :exit:)

Not sure how the "pit stop less" format will appear on TV, all going to be very interesting.

Also when is someone going to give "Berine the b******d" a nostalga injection. It's all very well him telling Silverstone they have to buck their idea up just after a GP at probably the most expensive GP venue ever built (Abu Dabi) but where would F1 be without Silverstone, Spa, Monza, Monaco etc??

There is no doubt Bernie has done lots of good things for the sport but why does he still have to play so hard after all these years?.

And what about Jean Todd at the helm of the FIA??

Roll on 2010

David

reports suggest Jenson was offered more to drive at Brawn than Mclaren

Pitstops will still be there, tyres need to be changed, they just wont be running off with the fuel hose attached like in the past..:D

It wont be 'pit stop less'. There just wont be any fuel going in, everyone will start with full tanks. There will still be tire changes.
Its quite a problem for the tire maker, they have to make them work with a very heavy car (so, strong sidewalls) and a very light car as well.

Yes - I know. You are saying if - I'm saying when

Bernie was on the news this morning saying there's still a chance it'll be at Donington. I suspect that's more to heap the pressure onto Silverstone to cave into his demands though, rather than an actual possibility!

Don't see how it could possibly be at Donny. The company that bid for it has gone bust.
Rumours are going around that Bernie could buy it up and stage it himself! Hows about that for negotiating!?

I reckon that the next season will be good, no fuel stops should shake things up a bit!!
These are going to be the brill days of cars running out of fuel before the finish - hope so.. but how will this work in quali? will all the naff cars be rooted back to the back and not be able to get mixed grids - brings back horrible memories of the yellow chicanes (forti-fords)
