Any car experts here?

I hope you're putting antifreeze back in as well as water.
Is there no staining anywhere. The antifreeze tends to leave a stain on the block or pipes where ever it is leaking from.

If Ford are so bad why are they the UK's biggest seller for the past 31 years?

According to the SMMT....

Top selling small car 2008 - Vauxhall Corsa
Top selling medium car 2008 - Vauxhall Astra
Top selling family car 2008 - Vauxhall Vectra

Top Fleet car 2008 - Vauxhall Astra

Source: SMMT Motorfacts 2008

Why are so many of their models considered best second hand buy?

By whom? Source? :naughty:

:D

I still wouldn't have one
Don't know what you're missing.
I won't have anything else but.
In 28 years of driving I've had 11 Fords other than a flat battery and a siezed engine because I never serviced it I've never had any trouble.
My current car is a 98 Mondeo 2.0 Ghia X, bought with FSH having covered 151,000 miles, it has now covered over 225,000 miles still on it's original engine, gearbox and clutch, only let me down twice when I've left the lights on and killed a dying battery twice. That was the original battery and it was 6 years old at the time. Still runs like a dream, and averages 37mpg in winter and 42mpg in summer.

I said "wouldn't have" not haven't had...I've had plenty of them :shake:

heres a wacky idea...take it to a garage...

Thanks for idea matty.
I done just that :D

The damage is.....................................................

A faulty thermostat housing!
Which is causing the loss of coolant.
Garage is dealing with it as we speak, so along with the MOT, a new tyre and the bits and pieces (including a new thermostat) and labour charges, the
cost will be a staggering £340

i work at a main ford dealership for over 6 years (master tech/foreman), the water in the footwell will be down to the pollen filter scuttle panel incorrectly/not sealed.

Definitely this. My sons 51 Focus had this and we resealed it with sealant which resolved the wet floor. It comes from Ford with a tacky strip but obvious at a service the tacky strip was reused instead of replaced.

I shall look into this later, if the garage haven't already.
Cheers, nice tip!

You checked the 'heater control valve' is functioning? A common problem on many Fords.

I pressume the fixers have checked this. Maybe worth remembering if the problem persists. Which I hope it doesn't!!!!

Ouch!!!!!!!

:thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Yes indeedy mate, tell me about it :'(
But to be fair, we don't really spend much out on our cars. Only what we have to!!
