RIP The High Street.
Ouch, that's one of the few places in the town I still use to rent DVDs and Blu Rays. That's a bit of a blow for me because what I get from there will have subtitles on them (as I'm hard of hearing) - something that isn't available with downloadable content from Netflix and Love Film.
I never realised downloads never had subtitles, that is a poor show
The other big problem is i don't want to be forced to pay £xx every month to use these download services, if i want to see a movie i could go to blockbuster and rent it, then not watch another for a couple of months maybe and it doesn't cost me money to not watch a film
And i'm sure most of these subscription services rely on a lot of people signing up and either forgetting/not using the service to its full potential to actually remain profitable
There are online models that still use the pay per movie service though. AppleTv for example
Ahh, never heard of Apple Tv, only ones i know of are the Netflix, Lovefilm type ones
Amazons Lovefilm and Youtube both do one off rentals, neither has a very up to date catalogue though.
I just thought iTunes was for music, do you need to buy one of those AppleTv boxes though at £99 to use it though

no itunes for movies, tv shows too. You can watch them on your ipad, iphone or computer too. DOesnt have to be through appleTv
But I'd much rather watch films on my 40 ins LCD TV in my hobby room with separate speakers blasting out the sound to get that "home cinema" feel on a Saturday evening, not on a silly little portable device with their tinny speakers (which I can't hear what with my deafness).
Spending two hours crouching over a small device straining to see the screen and listen to the speakers would detract from that home cinema feel.
RIP The High Street.
Exactly, at this rate what's the point of visiting town now, unless you want to buy stuff from the charity shop that is :|
Oh come on, stop being so negative!
Still lots to see and do in town, you could ...
Buy a copy of the Big Issue
Sign up to some £10 p/m (or whatever you can afford) charity thingy
Hand out Cigarettes to the Beggars
Take pictures of Plywood on boarded up shop window,
Its getting bad here. Our town centre is starting to sport more closed shops than open ones. The council Are trying to pour more money into it, but its a hard time to open a business, especially at the rates our council charge. We also used to have a huge open market that filled a carpark. Its now 4 stalls all owned by the same indian guy.

Are downlodes good enough for Home cinema on large projector? THX sound as well?
I don't think any high street shops are safe. Be it huge franchise stores or small family run shops. Ever since the internet came and online shopping started it has completely changed the world. Royal mail took a big hit when Email suddenly became popular, music cds are slowly becoming obsolete since mp3's started to dominate the market. Hell even car stereos now come with an mp3/ipod adapter. DVDs/bluray are just about keeping afloat in stores, until online services such as love film finally take it over completely. The only stores that seem to keep business going are the fast food restaurants, that is until you can download an edible bigmac.
Even Love Fim etc wont be around for long, the big players. Apple,Sky,Time Warner, Sony will have it all wrapped up. My guess is they already had it planned a few years back, and knew exactly how it was all going to end up.
