I find the seats in trains are larger and the legroom more ample. Ride, noise on a train is lower. As devices go, they're most pleasing.

I'll take point re prices however and glad you've got the choice.

That's one of those Seimens jobs.

Up here we use class 170 which are excellent. Today it's northern rail Leeds to Carlisle on class 158 (ok but beats a bus) then class 390 to Glasgow.

The 390 is the ultimate in banned driver transport. Tilts, goes 125 and is properly comfortable.

I disagree, you need to get better cars. More space, more legroom, passengers smell nicer, can control your own heating, doesn't mind floods or leaves and the likes, can fart and burp without being frowned upon.

The only thing a train had got going for it is a nice cooked breakfast on board. Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon, yes please :)

I'm talking purely relative to buses.

Although in saying that even my Mercedes E class generated more noise than a class 390 cruising at 125mph (which was how I tended to drive over long distances on motorways when conditions allowed)

Continental motorways have much better surfaces which drops the road noise right down.

I'm on a class 158 to get to Carlisle. It's a crapper but £17 to get to Glasgow from Leeds is ok. I'll pick up class 390 at Carlisle.

Journey will take door to door time around 5hrs, it's 3hrs in the car, less if you ton it ;)
 
I do think that speed limits need to become variable in the UK. I've done too many journeys up north at 4am on a Monday morning where it 70mph is just so so so boring. Heck my car was barely ticking over in those days.
 
My v12 did about 1,800 rpm at 90mph. It was very efficient at that speed.

smart motorways they are variable, M1 between the m25 and Luton, they're wroking to make bits of the M3 the same. I suspect you don't mean varying downwards though ;)

Indeed :) with modern cars there is no reason why the speed at certain times can't be limit free.

Absolutely, especially these latest ones that apparently can "fire" in all directions,
and the fact that certain stretches now, after a trial (in Kent) on the M25,
the M42 and M6 in Coventry, and Warwickshire.
are set to have the gantry camera's
live and set at 70, when there is no reduction in speed, variable speed limit in force.

They must be saving up for one hell of a Christmas party in 2015 :D

BMW 7 series :) it was lovely.

I still want another V12 as in a Lambo LM002. Can't afford that one unfortunately.

Simples speed=religion, actually thinking about it, that could make me a by extension a religious fundamentalist. Oops :(

I'm not quite sure that "driving at or below the speed limit is against my religion",
would actually stand up in court as mitigating circumstances though :D

Why haven't you anything to say about the video I have posted twice now with SILENCE from you all ? ? ? Rapscallion, you have posted links I'm assuming in some sort of reply, mocking the people demonstarting. Those guys may not be university graduates but does that make their opinions any less valid than anyone else's ? Aren't they allowed a voice, or is that reserved for people who are more eloquent ? As I posted earlier, if you silence people you will get frustrations boiling over.

All I see when I look at that video you have just put up is an example of gutter journalism / blatant racism. This is the type of video that leads to people being very misinformed (it may have been the source of your assertion that 'muslims need to speak out').

And where was he attacked?? All I see was him talking to a group of young men?

This truism doesn't really address the issues in the video though does it? The two women are complaining of young girls and intellectually disabled boys being groomed or harassed and the police don't seem to want to know.

The fear of someone playing of the race card is one of the main reasons the Rotherham sex abuse scandal was allowed to happen for so long. I wouldn't be confident of the perpetrators minority community to speak out on the subject either. So if people who investigate it are branded as 'racist' and the minority community think it is taboo or are scared of these gangs then who is left to stop it?

I thought this was an interesting horror story, as it involves a thug from Luton who isn't Muslim. His mate isn't Muslim either. Then I read that the knife kept by the victim was of the Ghurka persuasion, so I had to double check that it wasn't Muslim. It's not. So no Muslims here. Maybe delete this post Mods, as it's not relevant to the thread.
