Week 18 - Power

DSC02213.jpg

Seriously..people don't half know how to pimp a mobility scooter these days...

Hi Andy - I like your "tropical" and "power" shots a lot. Both spot on for the themes and great images too.

Nothing to add to crit already given, so I'll just say well done

Cheers, Patrick

Week 19 - Divided

DSCF0976.jpg

Kilmainham Gaol court yard Cross marking the place of execution of James Connolly the leader of the 1916 Easter Rising that lead to the dividing of Ireland. He was exicuted by firing squad tied to a chair as he was to badly injured to stand and was even given life saving treatment for his origional injuries so he survided long enough to be executed as seen in the film "Michael Collins" which was filmed at the Gaol along with "In the name of the father" and also the prison scenes in the origional "Italian Job"

A very strange place where you can almost feel the history and suffering but a must do if you go to Dublin

Hi, Andy, one if the reasons I really like your divided is the story behind the photograph the subsequent chaos that ensued in Ireland.

I like the inclusion of the door, any reason for the close crop?

I bet you could get more contrast out of the bricks and B&W?

Cheers.

Hi Andy, I like the take on Promise

The saturation looks a little heavy to my eye, but maybe my monitor. I would be inclined to try and fill the image as the composition gives the feeling of the left foreground being unused. I'll stop there or it will be an explanatory essay

If I get time this afternoon when I'm back from Hospital I might give this a go, as I feel you have achieved a difficult image :D

Hi Andy,

I think your idea for twisted is brilliant and spot on the theme, but I think it would have been better to have focus stacked a few images to have a pin sharp string, as for me the fret stands out first. Great tones though and perfect composition.

Hiya Andy,

I'm sorry but I have made a decision not to comment on your photo 52 for now ...

You never say thanks to those who have posted constructive critique (good or bad),

You have never really visited (or maybe you have) but don't post anything constructive to same

We are all in this photo52 for the learning experience, and it would be great to hear your opinions/comments on others photos.

Sorry if this seems a terse observation ... but there are some of us that really go out of our way to motivate each other.

Cheers

Dawn

I'm sorry you feel that way, I do try comment on other pics where I can but I don't like to just repeat what others say just as I try where I can to not post similar pics to other people.

I will try comment more on others pics as I do enjoy seeing others take on the themes and you are right positive comments are a good motivator so I will try post more of them

Hiya Andy ...

You may have commented on other pics, not many. We  you here and look forward to your contributions to the project, but it would be great if you were more active as it would be good to hear your thoughts about others photos too.

Cheers

Dawn :)

your promise shot is brill i love the light and i think it just says what it has to, yes top marks mate :thumbs:

I just used my usual angle poise lamp with a low energy bulb in it I find if works quite well but sometimes a little post processing is needed to get colours right

Now that is a good constructive response

Just catching up with peoples pictures this week (self imposed no peeking rule) Pleased that the first image I looked at didn't fall into what I thought most of the subjects would be this week.
Great take on the theme, good use of lamp and dof.

Oh and Dawn's right, GET COMMENTING.

Hey Colin, thanks .... I have been so worried about what I said, thinking I was maybe being over critical, after all we are all in this project with out own intentions, but it would be (and is great ...) to see Andy taking more part now.

I  you Andy, and it is so nice to see you participating a bit more over that last few days :)

Cheers

Dawn :)

Hi, Andy, (broken) promise, been there and I like the thought that's gone into this one.

As Tina says the ring looks over saturated. I'm also not sure about the composition- the table distracts somewhat. I'd like to see the ring in the upper right third. The blur on the 'Dear John' symbolises the fading relationship.

Cheers.

Hi Andy, like your broken promise photo, a great idea. If the table wasn't showing it would be better. Colour wise it looks ok, just a little rich if anything.

I like your twisted photograph as well. I think it would look good if the image was rotated, so you would lose the dark gaps.

Hi Andy, I like the "twisted" shot a lot. An unusual take on the theme. Nice use of limited DOF. The angle of view adds interest.

Personally I would have had a slighter deeper DOF to bring a bit more of the length of the strings into focus.

As patrick has said good use of dof and good angle like it its warming

Well done  I rather like morning Broken ;) But that is one great view isn't it? I love the gentle colours and brightness over the tops.

As you say, Bright in B&W is different. I find all the little reflections and light spots as little ...ummm...in the way...but I'm not sure I'm interested enough in the image, though I appreciate the skill in creating it. I'm a bit ambivalent about it, sorry

Hidden is really nice and natural. Great shot
Broken is a lovely view. The lighting is lovely. I find the incomplete trees on either side a little distracting though if I'm honest.
Bright has awesome clarity and I like the definition in the filament and writing. I find myself wishing there was something at the bottom though instead of it looking like its floating but perhaps thats just me. Anyway, really good shots.
Regards
