Proud day when my step daughter graduated

Hiya Andy,

Indeed a proud moment and a lovely photo to remember the day.

This definitely fits the theme well.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Good one Andy
I hope that was a degree in photography :D

Hi Andy,

I'm getting nervous each time I see a knowledge post; I keep thinking that someone may have done my idea, but thankfully it's in tact - I must get it done and posted!!

Your knowledge works well, real convenient her graduation falling this week!

As for your re-shoot, it's a nice shot, but there are some white splodges (excuse the technical term) to the left that are catching my eye. The ones on the far left could be cropped out, but the one right on the owl would be difficult to clone.

Hiya Andy,

Just seen your re-shoot for knowledge, and what a gorgeous looking bird.

Have to agree with Neil about the bokeh in the background, they are a tiny bit distracting.

Otherwise a lovely photo.

Cheers

Dawn :)

Some of the problem was shooting through the wire of the cage in front of the owl I had to use DOF to get rid of the bars

I rather like your pictures and apologise for my flaky appearance. I will endeavour to visit and do a proper critique each week from now.

Of course I hate you for ALREADY having this weeks image posted and he is lovely, though I also find the background distracting. Have you tried to apply a Gaussian blur in pp? (She glibly suggests having never achieved satisfactory results with such herself ;))

took your advice and had a play came up with this

any better

Hi Andy, well done for getting these. I really like the photo of your stepdaughter, and congratulations to her! The owl, is lovely, and I think your 2nd version is great, what processing did you apply to it?

Week - 12 - Moderation

Typhoon2.jpg

Meet the "Moderator" the Typhoon Eurofighter set to moderate the new "no fly zone" safe journey and safe return to you all

Ok well spotted not taken this morning but thoght I'd go for the topical approach to this weeks challenge and don't think I'd get this close to a Eurofighter at present.

Took the pic at Waddington airshow

Hiya Andy,

Another great shot bang on theme.

I'm starting to think you were a boy scout as a kid .... i.e., always prepared

I don't have much knowledge of planes, but the photo looks spot on focus wise and I like how you have caught the wheels spinning.

BTW I like the edit on your owl shot

Cheers

Dawn :)

O like that shot...
I've got some good ones of military jets from last years costford air show, but I didn't manage to get one as nice as this one is!

Just a shame were scrapping them, really...

I love the motion blur in the background, and the colours are so nice and rich

Just been checking details on this pic and remembered I took this with my old Fuji FinePix S5800 so very pleased with the results, At the same show it did a formation display with a spitfire, and they are based at the same base as Battle of Britain memorial flight or they were until tonight as they have moved to a forward base in Italy and will be used from Monday onward.

Fab shot Andy and very topical. I know the Waddington Airshow well as I spent my last 7 years in the RAF there. Unfortunately I was into photography then therefore so many opportunities have passed me by.

I love the framing of this, really well done:clap:

having to do a little catch up !!
I love the trio shot and and the Knowledge shot but not keen on owl sorry
and well to top it off Moderation superb very fitting

Week 13 - Empty

DSC00110.jpg

Our home never felt more "Empty" than when we lost our dog "Miner" This is my Son's favourite picture of him.

Only Ted our new terrier could fill the emptiness left by Miner

Hiya Andy,

Such a lovely photo of Miner and a memory to cherish.

Thanks for sharing this photo with us, it looks like Miner was quite a character.

Cheers

Dawn :)

A lovely portrait and I well understand his passing left you feeling empty. A slight tweak to levels to increase blacks would add a little punch I feel. This might be my monitor :(

Glad to hear you have more terrier trouble to keep you company ;)

Week 14 - Object

DSC04794.jpg

I was a bit slow posting this week as I had a dental abcess under a crown so here is the "Offending Object"

:gag:

Was that screwed in??

On my work's PC but looks a bit OOF and I bet you could get a more golden colour??

Also, I can definetly see a face in the crown...well someone was bound to say it....:D

Cheers.

Usually I try to figure out what a picture is of. This one had me stumped.
