I was a very keen enthusiast a few years ago, don't have any kit these days.

Long since gone silent key, lost interest when I was getting too many visits from the DTI because of idiot neighbours running 27mhz high band through firesticks attached to plastic gutters. Like yeh thats gonna act as a ground plane.
I used to run a Trio TS530Sp with matching ATU into a 26ft tall trap vertical, with 100 sq feet of heavy chicken wire burried in the lawn as a ground plane.
I listen to 2m on a scanner very occasionaly, its just like cb now![]()
I passed the exams back in 1987 but never got round to applying for a licence.
Steve.
If you still have your paperwork you can still apply. You'd get full hf access too now the requirement for a morse test has been dropped
G8KTE seems a long time ago now! Lost interest over the years as there are few radios you can fix now. Can you imagine a single channel 70cms transciever nearly two foot square. It was fun getting it working and a sense of achievement.
Same here. Lost interest some years ago. I still have a FT 101Z and ATU G4FFW[/QUOTE
FT 101Z vintage HF! Nostalgia just remembering those things called valves!

My radio skills got no further than the heady heights of illegal CB radio when it hit the shores around 1980
Lost it's appeal somewhat when it was later legalised
