Try creating a new MacOS user and see if they still have the same issue. That may help narrow down the possible source of the issue to some settings within your profile.
I’ve just tried that, new MacOS user with different Apple ID, did a Recovery & Restore, thought at first it may have worked but sadly not. Thanks anyway.

"Heads Up"

There's a software update out for "iPad OS" & "IOS" version 15.6. Mine are all done & dusted and everything seems to be just fine.
Updated my iPhone SE (original) to 15.6 a couple of days ago. Since then, it keeps dropping the bluetooth connection to my hearing aids, used for control of volume etc, and also to stream phone calls and other sounds direct to the hearing aids. I've had to pair them 3 times and they've dropped off yet again. Anyone heard anything of bluetooth problems with this upgrade?

And, asking for a friend, is there a way to back out of an IOS upgrade? I, sorry he, did take an iCloud backup before upgrading...

Found a site suggesting that bluetooth problems with 3rd party devices are fairly common after IOS upgrades. They offered a couple of suggestions. One was:

- Turn off devices

- Turn off bluetooth in Settings (not anywhere else)

- Turn devices on

- Turn bluetooth on in Settings.

After this, it recognised and paired with the hearing aids immediately. I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see if this continues in normal use.

Had a similar problem after going to 15.6, I've had to re-pair with my car handsfree, earphones and scales, definitely something funky with the update! Airpods and Watch however have continued to work correctly without re-pair

I've experienced absolutely no problems whatsoever with the upgrade, with either my Apple devices or third party devices such as a remote for activating the shutter and a gimbal etc.

Both my IPhones and Ipad just sit in my desk draw now, as upgraded my phone to the S22 Ultra, plus my watch is in there too as my health is covered in my phone now.

You‘ll only get truly comparable health monitoring if you are also using a Galaxy Watch with your new phone.

Haven't had to pair them again, so this seems to have worked.

I think I’ve solved it by wiping the iPad completely, so it booted as a new one. I then did a Recovery + Restore with the Mac to be on the safe side, and then set up as a new iPad ”manually” not using backups or other devices. Safari has still synchronised with all my tabs and groups on my other iPad but I haven’t had a single instance of the background tabs failing to open correctly so far :(

Thinking about selling my Ipad and maybe the IPhone 11 plus watch. The Ipad comes with the pencil and magic keyboard as they are just collecting dust, so need to get a price sorted.

Reports that last updates for IOS and Mac are critical security updates.
They do seem to be quite important for a change if reports are true.

Bit of an urgent question as in Jersey till just after lunch. iPhones here are around 100 cheaper, thinking of 12 base model or 13 mini. The se is about 55 cheaper.

The new 14 will be out in oct so expect prices will drop on the 12 and 13. Can anyone remember roughly how much the 12 and 11 dropped when 13 came out last year?

Don’t need one now but was planning to get one this side of Xmas so may be better off getting now.

Not much help I’m afraid but the price drop on the 11 was substantial. I had bought the 11 just before the 12 came out and the drop was enough that I did a return and then re-bought it at the lower price.

Simple Question.

On my old "12.9 iPad Pro" (2017 vintage) if I double clicked on the home button it would bring up all the apps etc that I had used and I would just swipe upwards on each one to clear it.

On my "12.9 iPad Pro" (current model) I can do the same thing but to bring up all the apps etc that I had used I have to do a short swipe up from the bottom edge and sometimes this can take quite a lot of swipes. Does anyone know if there is a different way ie short cut of bringing the apps up? I did manage to do this just once purely by accident but I haven't a clue what I'd done.

Interested in replies, as I find the swiping up from the bottom to be error prone too...

It works OK after a style, but I do find it very frustrating to use when the old way with a home button worked perfectly. I know there's no home button on the later iPad but I really would prefer something a bit more positive to use.

Haven’t checked but maybe you can do it by “back tap” Though I find back-tap a bit hit or miss myself. Edit: talking rubbish, thats on the iphone!

BTW I don’t find the up-swipe sluggish on oldish iPad Pro 10.5 or new iPad Air 3.

Maybe your Haptic Touch is set to “Slow”?

Many thanks for that, If I can find it I'll try it.

Settings/Accessibility/touch/haptic touch

Not sure it’ll affect swipe since I thought the ‘haptic’ was to do with ‘pressure’ but …

Edit to add;

Adjust settings for taps, swipes, and multiple touches

Many thanks for that, I've just gone into that and the setting was already on fast.

I've just had an email from "Apple" to say join them for the "Apple Event" at 6pm (UK time) on Wednesday 7th September.

This is something I've been looking forward to for some time as I will be upgrading my "iPhone 12 Pro Max" to whatever the top of the range "iPhone 14" is possibly called the "iPhone 14 Pro Max". I've got very high hopes for the new "iPhone" and really hope most of the rumours are correct.

Yes, an “6.7-inch ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max” is forecast. I’m more interested in iPadOS 16 which is also. forecast for then.

I have a first version iPhone SE, running latest IOS. All works fine, except... the darn camera shutter has gone silent on me! Since there's absolutely no other feedback, I have relied on that sound to let me know whether my hopeful poking at the screen where the "button" might be, has had some fruitful result. I've looked through Settings, but can't find a relevant one. Other sounds appear to operate normally, the phone is NOT on silent mode!

Can anyone help?

(PS, in case you didnt guess, I loathe smart phone cameras, while acknowledging that other folk can get great results from them. They can be useful for "record" purposes, though...)

Only thing I know is that it’s off by default with “live photo” ON. Might be affected by “preserve setting”.

Adjust the shutter sound

When Camera is open, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center, then drag
the volume slider
to adjust the sound.
Note: The shutter doesn’t make a sound when Live Photos
the Live Photo button
is turned on.

Thanks... Live Photo is definitely off. The swiping thing doesn't seem to do anything, except occasionally it'll flip into the lock screen and notification centre! Version is 15.6.1, so all up to date.

OK, so very weird. Fiddled around with the volume control buttons on the side, and managed to get the shutter sound back. But the phone started emitting white noise that wouldn't stop! Eventually I had to turn it right off and on again, now everything seems to be fine.

Of course, one of the first things I should have tried was the turn off/turn on trick! It's months since it was last turned off.

Power down cures almost all minor glitches, if not then a hard reset will probably do it.

I was hoping for a better upgrade on the Watch SE, e.g. always-on display. The speed increase doesn't make enough of a difference as the original SE is fast enough. So the only feature that appeals to me is crash detection. Is it worth a trade-in of "up to £95" on a watch that cost something like £247 just to get a watch that costs "starting at £295" (actually £299 for the 44mm in Midnight colour to match my current watch)? It's not a very appealing deal.

The improvements to the iPhone's camera system do appeal to me, though. A 48MP sensor on the main camera which can be treated as 12MP of "quad-pixels" giving a new 2x optical/digital zoom with much better resolution than the 2x zoom/crop of the iPhone 13. Autofocus on the front-facing camera is far less useful for me, but I can see the appeal to photographers that do selfies, or videographers that shoot in dual front/backcamera mode. Most of the general public won't care about autofocus, I would guess.

But again, doing the calculations on the trade-in price of the 13 Pro Max against the cost of an iPhone 14 equivalent makes it not really worth the bother, though I suppose I could just win the Lottery.

Given how little I've used the 13 Pro Max over the last 9 months I've had it, plus the fact that my preferred combination is the 67mm equivalent lens in Portrait mode, I think I'll pass on the 14. Anyone else tempted, or definitely going for it?

One thing I might applaud Apple for is allowing us to shoot Cinema mode in 24fps, the industry standard (in the UK). But it should have been 24fps from the start, IMO.

Anyone else got sudden increased battery drain on an iPhone? Mine has gone from being 3 days use easily to being flat in 36 hours which is completely useless. It's a year old iPhone 11. Fitbit app seemed to be the cause but even after turning that off it's still draining massively for no actual use. 20% lost over night is rubbish performance. Background app updating is turned off most things. Notifications are off unless essential so not many of those.

What is the battery health like though should not change suddenly
