all nikon F mount cameras .. any Nikon with a D prefix

A cautionary tale , I’ve been using my D500 intermittently since purchase around 6 months ago and getting acceptable results , however using it yesterday and posting a few photos my lad noticed that the white balance was out , most of my pics had a blue tinge .. on checking the camera it was indeed set to white balance0 which is white cold .. I have never thought to check that before as I had done a full reset on purchase .
So I did another full reset then checked again ..
It seems that white balance0 is the default setting ,I have now changed it to normal so we shall see results later .. I realise that you can change WB in editing but I neglected to do that yesterday so it showed up in the photos .. hope this helps someone else …you never know .. there are 3 settings cold 0 , normal1, and warm 3
Cheers for this…….appreciated.

So just to be clear, my D700 ‘auto white balance’ should be set at - normal-1 ?

Regards,
Peter

Am i correct in saying that this has a focal length on the D500 of 300–750mm? How do you find this compared to your Tamron 150-600 g2 ? Thanks.
yes ,where as the tamron need af fine tuning and I suspect was drifting a bit , this bolted straight on to the camera , is sharp wide open at f5.6 and will take a 1.4 tc the only real advantage the tamron had is it was lighter weight

Thanks for the info Jeff, considering the Nik 200-550 myself. I would most likely have to use my monopod for any larger lens.

The 200-500 is just about the limit for me hand holding ( nearly 80) if I need to play with adjustments it’s mono or tripod use though , got a cracking deal on mine from Wex . . As I said the ability to shoot at 500mm at F5.6 and be sharp is a game changer. The only downside I’ve found is it’s very easy to knock the lens hood off , I might get a screw on one instead

Haven't been out in weeks with a camera due to Flu, Xmas and the AF issue with my D90 (mind still going in circles about what to replace it with!) Anyway, feeling better yesterday went for a walk up to the R.A.F. radar station at Brizlee Wood and used manual focus to get a few shots, about 50% success rate with my old eyes!

Nikon D3100 35mm prime.
Putting this up here tonight, very happy since this photograph was awarded a highly commended in a club comp.
I was delighted since I have worked at this over the last year.
My trusty D3100 and I.

Has anyone ever owned a Nikkor AF DC 135mm f/2 D lens...? Just curious about it's optical output as a fixed prime..(?)

Any advice/experience/knowledge appreciated.

I've got one but not used it much. Really nice and makes skin look good. Not as sharp wide open as the latest z mount stuff but you might not want that in a portrait lens. There should be lots of pictures on flikr. Focus speed is pretty quick.
The defocus thing really works but mainly impacts the far background/foreground. If you push it beyond the recommended amount it drops the sharpness a bit. It could be useful if you are trying to defocus a background at the same time as eliminating ambient light with a higher aperture. Or to mess about with oversize bokke balls like this:

On a Z camera you don't get autofocus so you might as well get a 135 f/2.8 AIS for a third of the price. No defocus but it makes really nice pictures to.

What make and model of car is this, looks 60s American, is it a Ford Thunderbird ?
Brilliant photograph, but also brilliant subject.
Looks like a column shift with an automatic gearbox.
Also equipped with a bench seat, looks like it has a couple of A/C vents, could it have air conditioning built in as a production extra.
Not a UK style hand brake but an American style emergency brake pedal just to the left of the massive foot brake pedal.
Loads of chromed and metal switch gear.
For me its one of the best pics I have see on here since I joined TP, and its better than any modern car could ever be as far as I can see.
Exciting photograph, exciting car.
Thank you.
