Love the feather, fantastic detail.
Yeah, that's one for me. Cracking detail and well lit. Well composed and I like the subtle detail in the black surface.
Cheers.
#1 gets my vote Allan
Minimalist, clean, sharp, well lit holding the detail in the feather and great use of negative space.
Perfect Allan, just perfect![]()
another vote for the feather.....great detail and lighting, like the details in the background which almost echoes the shape of the feather
well done
Storming images both of them. Well done.![]()
I Love the feather but for some reason there appears to be masses of cloning all about 1cm square shapes on the black ?? or is that pattern or is it just my monitor ???
If the black was faultless that would be the shot for me, So I'm going for the Jack-plug - Great idea by the way![]()

The picture was taken on the canal

Helloooooo
For sheer simplicity & effectiveness the feather mono shot is perfection.....thought it was on a shiny black surface till I read your words on the "how"....really well handled exposure , cracking detail in feather & reflection......cracking shot matey...LOVE IT
The mono plugs doesn't appeal to me but still a good shot , the flower head...another nice take with good detail but both pale next to the feather .
Connection.....good take on the theme with a lovely sky , fab detail in the brickwork, good low angle...yeah...liking this also
Agreed, simple, effective and quick.
A very nice shot, shame about that foliage in the lower left
Good connection, nice colours in the brickwork and sky.
Mono, #3, getting good at this, aren't you
Well composed and good tonal range, but I can't help wondering what it would look like with the lower left leaf straight up, as the others are. I guess it's just a symmetry thing, and I'll be back to this one to see if the bent leaf growns on me, which I feel it will.
.....made my mind up already, prefer it as it is. Add a bit if quirkiness to it and added interest
Connecting, yup, on theme and WB looks spot on, lovely detail, Especially in the clouds and brickwork. I don't mind the converging lines, but I do like reflections and it's a pity you couldn't get the bridge reflection.....maybe you couldn't
Now, sit back and relax until Saturday.
Cheers.
Great detail underneath the arch and wonderful sky. Well done, Sir
Nowt wrong with a literal take on the theme, lovely shot - very well processed too - really bringing out the shadows under the arch and really making the sky stand out!
At first (cos I can't really remember too much about my teenage years) I was thinking that this bridge connected England to Wales... but it looks from the map that the border is further up, however my mum gets the bus across this bridge once a week (her welsh bus pass is only good as far as Chester) to go to witherspoons for lunch with her friend and then they get the bus home to Wrexham again! Anyway where were we? Oh yeah...
Great shot mate, lovely focus and detail throughout. POV is good too, nowt wrong with a literal connection to the theme. (see, I did it again) as Graham rightly says, good PP too. Well done.

As Graham said Allan, nowt wrong with a literal take on a theme
I particularly like the strength of the composition, the bridge fills the whole frame, its the main subject, no distractions around it.
Do I detect some very subtle HDR? If it is, you've handled it really well, bringing out the fine detail of the bridge.
If its not, then ignore the sentence above
Good work regardless Allan, nowt I'd want to change about this![]()

I need to get my monitor calibrated really, as often I am not sure when I see images...Thanks for the comments
Your monitor must be so bright DK I had to turn up the brightness setting in Aperture to see what you were on about, you were right.
The picture was taken on the canal I watched a swan pluck it out and off it went down the canal, when i converted the image with a blue filter setting the water was mostly black, on my monitor:shrug: so the only thing i can think was the area I picked to clone looked black to me but may not have been.
Just gone back to the raw file and did a better job i think
Thanks for pointing it out![]()

Very nicely shot.![]()
Yep, you've done it again Allan.
Spot on lighting. Im sitting here nodding my head in approval. I like that image.
Technically very good Allan, lighting/focus/detail all spot on
The composition bothers me a little, you have done so well with the black background, too well in fact. The musical items just seem to sit there in the blackness. I feel a closer crop would help 'ground' the items.
Cheers![]()
thanks for visiting Iainplenty of interest in there, nicely lit, kind of in agreement with Iain on the black bg, Love the range of old and new incorporated into the subjects too...
Still = still lifeworks for me Allan. I wonder if anyone else has taken the same route?
Beautiful rich black background and lots of ineterst in that. I like the different wood tones and colours.
I wonder if you could have tweaked the lighting to give sort of a spot light effect on the composition and if that would have lifted it a bit???
