Adele's 365 *FULLY UPDATED* 166/365 210609

lol, if people think half a sheep was a good idea for art, i think we are all in trouble.

Blimey, a lot went on in this thread after I went to bed last night!

Love that photo Del. Know what you mean about Camera Club Judges. I had one marked down to an 8 because there was a fence in it and fences are "barriers". It was a photo of a horse gazing over a fence into the open fields FFS! :bang:

STUNNING last image del. It holds my attention as i want to see those EYES (or at least a hint of an eye)

 Sorry Marc - I had a late one, not sleeping properly again.

It wasnt so bad when I was a complete "newbie" but just a year into the camera club I have learnt so much - and whilst not fully knowing everything....I seem to know enough than quite a lot of people who go there.

Thanks Chris If I'm having it printed - it needs to be done today - and I am still not sure... :(

Indeed, I'm starting to get that feeling after 4 months! :D

When I first went, I was trying and trying to get into the top 10 - or the people that mainly won the comps, I would try and get near them - when we could enter 2/3 images at a time. I would see where abouts I could get in relation to them.

They arent entering as much, and the influx of newbies - means things arent as good as they used to be, and no image is really making me go "wow" which I think is really sad :(

I got that 8 in my first comp. In my second I got 18 and joint second place. After 3 comps out of 6 (I've entered 2) I am 4th overall in the league table. So no, the standard isn't fantastic, but there always seems to be at least one wow shot in each comp so for me it is worth entering just to see if I can be that wow shot. I must admit, comp nights are my favourite because they are always entertaining. :D

The 'top' guys aren't entering as much for 2 very good reasons

1 - that they are busy doing other stuff and having already proved themselves have lost some of the desire

2 - that the influx of 'poor' photographers means marking has gone completely nuts, which is just bloody annoying

Marked by the club, this last shot I'd expect to get anything from an 8/20 to a 20/20 (10 is crap btw!)

To some people, an OoF, badly composed, poorly printed grab-shot of a duck in a drain will do much much better (as one did in a previous comp)

It's crazy :cuckoo:

DD

At the moment, I feel disappointed coming away from some of my comp nights, the better photographers arent being bothered to enter, because of the strangeness of marking, and the ones that do - feel like they dont want to due to the marking and mediocre images doing better than theirs. :(

I take photographs for me. The girl in the picture adores it.

Probably what you said above is two of the most important points with the first being the most important, i personally think that way now that's why i don't post much these days as i rarely got any feedback, which is'nt a problem for me as it was in the early days when i got disheartened by it, i've just come to the conclusion everyone has there own tastes so it's pointless trying to please everyone, if i like them that's the main thing after all it's my hobby else i might as well go and play golf, oh hang on i wasn't to good at that ethier  but back on topic, i quite like this image and was surprised you got such a good result with one flashgun, i would be interested to know how you set it up and processed it after ;)

Today I decided that I was going into town to get the photograph printed for the competition.

I was unsure what I was going to take a picture of today, so I took my camera with me, and decided to head into town.

I have been looking for some new trainers, and saw that OSC had a sale on. I went in and looked around, and found none.

Then my eyes spotted these!!

I know I hear you say, they're not trainers. But the problem is, I have size 8 feet, and I am only 5ft 6 - and its very hard to find very pretty shoes in a size 8! I tried these on and they fitted perfectly.

And yes! They really are that red! Lol

All for the grand total of £10 - Just stunning!

I knew a woman would appreciate them!

Hmm, not sure I appreciate that comment, as soon as I saw that shot I thought of Wizzard of Oz

Great shots BTW, I especially love the Cauldron, you've captured the "star" brilliantly.

P.S. The next time I'm looking to buy something can I let you know what it is so you can find me a bargain (or does your bargain nose only work on frillies and high heels?)

Actually, you may just have inspired a future shot :D

Tonight has been Mix & Match image selection night tonight at Camera Club.

Its a competition we have between us and another local camera club, and we show an image, and they have to match it.

Ie. Pic of a Dog = Pic of a Dog type of thing. So the quirkier the better generally.

These are what I entered....I dont know how many got through!...

Print it big and get it framed. Its the kind of quirky shots that works well hung on a wall :)
