Adding a second Nikon camera to Nikon Transfer - HOW?

Stupidly, I left the instructions for the software elsewhere, hence I am throwing myself on your collective mercy .

I installed "Nikon Transfer" when I first got my D700 and it (as well as NX2 Capture) has worked just fine for downloading my files from the camera.

Now, I have a D40 as well. When I first plugged the D40 into a USB socket (expecting it to open up Nikon Transfer), my laptop simply saw it as a "remote storage device" and assigned a letter to it. The problem is that Nikon Transfer also only sees it as "The G Drive" and so not all of it's functions work as they should :|.

So, is anyone else running multiple Nikons with this program, or does anyone know I should 'install' the camera so that Nikon Transfer recognises it :shrug:?

I do not use Nikon Transfer but you may want to try this:

Open NX2, click on Help, click on Update Capture NX2 and then click on My Products.
Make sure that both the cameras are selected in the Digital Product list.

As I said I'm not sure if this will do anything but it may be worth a go.

I found the right menu options and tried it, but I'm afraid that it didn't work.

Perhaps I should approach Nikon about this !?

Try going through the D40 (full) setup menu to USB and setting to PTP instead of Mass Storage

Ah, that sounds promising .

I don't have the camera with me, but I'll certainly try it out when I get home.
