A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

Thanks Lisa, the unprocessed pic is shocker, no sky (over exposed). So all this processing to try something different :)

7th August: Peeling Paint.

Drove around looking for inspiration tonight (must have been miles), ended up driving past an old abandoned boarded up church and on one side was this fantastic looking bright blue door with lots of peeling paint. Decided a close crop accentuated the details better than a complete view of the door. Taken with the 100-400mm zoom at 190mm.

I like the abstractness of this shot Julian - Works well

10th August: My daughter's favorite 'Car'

Just a macro filler shot tonight.

Nothing wrong with filler shots, especially when they are so well executed :)

11th August: Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth

Early morning shot, completely bland overcast sky, lacking any punch. Typical the rest of the day was blue sky and white fluffy clouds, Grrrrrrrrrrr!

Nicely processed

Thanks Chris, very kind. Although I'm really unhappy with my efforts recently. Probably something to do with buying a new car this week and thinking of putting our house on the market :| my mind is elsewhere . . . .

13th August: Fratton Park Graffiti

Fratton Park is the home of Portsmouth FC. Found some really interesting graffiti there, plus some very cool structures that I will use in future shot's for my 365. This was another shot with my old 350D, it was raining, so didn't want to get my 5D2 wet :)

Excellent, liking the composition :D
Great how the top of the wall is level with the frame

Sometimes it's hard to get spot on in camera, the angles in my shot today made it more difficult, coupled with the 350D that has nowhere near a 100% viewfinder. That's a pretty good excuse I reckon :D

Yeah deffo.
The D80 feels like a toy now, with a viewfinder to match...

Thanks Lisa, not seen any proper graffiti for a while, so now that I've found an abundance of it, I will be taking further shots in the future ;)

Thanks mate, Some new apartments in Portsmouth, guess it's to help buyers see the apartments from outside
Just noticed the letters in the shot ;)

Thanks Dave, I do like shots like this, just wish the weather was better for me this week, been overcast every shot I've taken this week.

Thanks mate, I seem to be searching out more abstracts of late, not sure why, but I'm looking at everything for signs of an abstract photo :geek:

It never crossed my mind to check the letters when I was there, all I can think is it's represents apartments that were available for sale. rearranging the letters would be fun ;)

15th August: Old fishing boat

Busy day looking at a couple of houses, so only had my 350D with me (seem to be using it a lot lately). Was trying to rain when I took this picture standing on a moving jetty. Spent ages in Photoshop trying to get an old and dirty kind of look. A final application of the 'poster edges' filter seems to have done the trick, well to me anyway :)

16th August: Flags, Lymington Sailing club.

Shot looks like it should have been easy, but I was surrounded by folks getting they're laser class boats ready (think that's what they were anyway). Plus the strong wind really made it hard getting a decent composition of the flags (image not cropped). Polariser helped bring out the detail.

This is on the 5D2, when we parked the car I saw the flags and knew it was my shot for the day. Went for a walk and lunch and then started to take my shots, but it was right when they were all getting ready (or finishing), I was standing in the middle of a boat trailer frame to get this, sure they must have thought I was a bit odd.

I know what you mean, I've turned a corner with regard to how I must look, I just go for it :)

Great flag shot Julian - super colours.

When you said Lymington, I was half expecting to see the cobbled street that everyone seems to photograph. :)

Thanks Dave, yeah it's very nice around Town Quay, so I can see why folks go for a shot. Really like Lymington and as we're currently looking at the possibility of moving it would be a nice place to move into, but too far away from work.
