A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

Thanks guys, beer is great, can take nice DoF shots, then you drink it. What could be better?!?!

2nd August: Hook with Warsash Nature Reserve

Went for a great walk in the nature reserve on the river Hamble (whilst looking at Warsash for relocation potential).
Just can't stop shooting narrow DoF with the nifty fifty, so apologies, but I can't tell when I'm going to get bored :)

3rd August: Ready for Harvest

Wanted to take a nice colourful shot of a field of corn on the way home from work. Was nice all day, then turned completely overcast for the commute home, typical British weather!
Not only was the sky completely lacking in detail but it was extremely windy, so the wheat was getting blown all over the place, not great for my narrow DoF close-up on the ears of wheat. So focused on the tree in the background at 2.8 Av. Then in PS applied levels fix, curves cross process, slight use of the dodge tool on the tree (but you can't tell at this res) and finally B&W conversion layer with sepia effect, oh and a slight vignette in the corners.

Thanks mate :)

Next time add a curves adjusment layer with cross process applied. Then add a B&W adjustment layer. You can then hide and show the layers to see the effect and difference. Not saying it works all the time, but when it does it's night and day to my eyes. It really adds impact

Thanks Lisa :)

I have built up some knowledge of PS over the years, partly from an evening class but mostly trial and error over time.

4th August: Desk View @ work

Taken with the compact, this will have to do for today :(

Thanks mate, poor effort today really.

A Dell....... Yes and I used to work for Dell too ;) I'm not into Apple computers either (iPod yes), style of substance, too much money. Apple could sell a polished turd and people would queue around the block to buy it :D

Thanks Lisa, processing turned a nothing grab shot into a slightly more interesting shot

Lucky guy Shrub Monkey... being able to have a pepsi max and your i-pod at your computer desk. Where I'm 'still' at - just - we can't have any radio, NO drinks other that water, no 'printed' material other than work related... nor any 'personal data' - photos - on the 'company business HD'...

Some really nice shots lately - sorry I haven't added any comments before now :-[

Thanks for the comments Austringer :)

Wow your company sounds like it's running a strict regime :gag:, you also also say you still there 'just' hope things work out for you :)

Had to sign a confidentiality agreement  - and only involved in dairy produce like craem and custard at the moment  Let's just say if there were more jobs in the area the only ones that would be there would be management - morale is none existant now in a work force of around 140. New French owners making changes and investing heavily with new building work - which is GREAT - but we have 'English' management with a bully boy in charge. Changes in my department look as though more staff cutbacks likely when they combine two control rooms in to one and this time I'd be glad to be on the list. If not then I'll most likely go for voluntary. Not that I 'want' to be out of work at my time of life

Anyways... not to detract any further from your 365 with my woes - keep them coming

Thanks Lisa, this is turning out to be a bad week for inspiration, weather is not helping either (it was a field of peas BTW)

Thanks Austringer, your work environment has some similarities to my previous place prior to being made redundant. Fingers crossed for you ;)

Thanks, not sure it worked out, but was one of 4 quick grab shots with the 350D when I walked in the door from work (wanted to catch my youngest with cool shades on). Was a nothing shot, but more often than not it's these (technically no good photos) that capture something that you just can't get when with posed shots. Decided to remove the background clutter to emphasize the emotion

Thanks Lisa/Nic - experimental processing really, never know until you try (plus I'm devoid of inspiration this week).
