A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

22nd May: CMA CGM Berlioz arriving at Southampton.
This shot is taken 10 minutes after purchasing my new Canon 100-400mm zoom lens. Attached the lens to the camera body in the shop, drove the short distance to the waterfront. So nothing special today as this was about the 10th shot I took with the lens, will need to get used to the pump action type zoom ring now.

well it's been a little while since I took a ship at Southampton. Looking forward to a JD ship pic :)

Yeah, I just love big ships, can you tell :)

Just prove I used the zoom, here is a shot of the bridge/living quarters of the CMA CGM Berlioz (above)

And here is the Ventura, launched last year, she is the biggest British cruise liner, here she is berthed at Southamptons brand new Ocean Terminal. Image does not do justice to the size of her. I need to take a pic of the Independence of the Seas, she is the biggest liner in the world and docks at Southampton. Ok I'll stop now guys, sorry :geek:

That's a well loaded ship! I am going to get a ship shot one these days, you know ;)

23rd May: North fountain at Waddesdon Manor
My first attempt at creating a lith film effect.

Thanks Dave. Yeah shame about the arm on the left, but liked the water in this shot.

Really like the water in that one,
I've been trying to shoot rain with about zero luck :cuckoo:

Thanks Kay & Cyclone

I took a number of shots, so the water was just to intense and others there was not enough, looked like I was splashing them :)

Apart from the elbow touching the side, I liked this one the best.

24th May: Landing at Popham airfield
Love the freedom around Popham, can go anywhere you like. Testing my 100-400 a bit more today, shame I could not capture the landings as it was directly into the sun

There probably is, although I love flying, a mate I knew a long time ago had a private pilots license and I went up a few times. He used to put the wind up me, by flying into restricted military airspace and waiting until the 3rd and final warning before turning onto a new course :nono:

Yeah still have the 350D, but the FF 5D2 is not really an issue at Popham as you can walk just about anywhere, so can get very close, it's so cool :)

25th May: Above the North Portal at Gloucester Cathedral
Totally overcast sky, so wanted a shot to fill the frame with as much interesting detail of the cathedral without any sky, so tilted the camera.
Single RAW shot saved at 5 different exposures and HDR processed in Photomatix, then final processing in PS.

Thanks Dave. Popham is great, i will be visiting Popham in my lunch break before I start my new job.

26th May: Candid Contemplation - Looking for answers in a can of Diamond White cider.

Thanks guys.

I really am crap at candid shots. You would think with the 100-400 I would be able to do it no problem now, but no. I now find people stare at me when I walk around with this lens. I saw this guy outside the church, so walked around a bit, then pretended to take shots of the church and took a few of him. At onepoint he was waving at me :D

You might make me like selective colouring yet!!

For some reason I really like selective colouring, looking back at my 365, I have used the technique on a few shots now :)

25th May messes with my eyes, but i still like it

26th May - very subtle use of selective colouring - works well :)

Thanks Chris, I still find new details in the may 25th shot each time I look. The may 26th shot was just a chance grab shot, funny I've had more comments on this on SmugMug than any other.

27th May: Charles Darwin £10 note

Removed - Pending BoE approval (Thanks JD, thought I was within the law, but going to double check)
