A Picture a day (My 365) . . . Made it to the End!

Like most men

:D

The PS3 in this house is used as a dvd player, he hardly ever plays on it anymore, same as the X-box 360 he had to have. I want a wii though after playing on one at mums

Not used my PS3 for months until downloading this game, just not enough time.

28th July: Some rust at low tide, hmmmmm interesting ?!?!?!?

Was going to be a B&W conversion, but that rust colour is just so striking :)

Late post as I left my camera bag under my desk at work yesterday, doh :bonk:

Thanks chaps, yes was very silly, didn't sleep much last night thinking about if it would be there in the morning :gag:

ha ha, I will not lower myself to that level. Also seems to be more Nikon owners doing a 365, than canon on here, still that makes a change (ooops) :D

29th July: 'Jurassic Mess', one of the slightly dilapidated seafront fairground attractions at Southsea, Portsmouth.

Just having some fun in Photoshop tonight, with all sorts of processing, applied multiple gradients to the sky and a clouds filter. Then used one of my favourite filter effects, 'sumi-e', for the building (to give it that rough, edgy kind of look).

Definitely edgy! I don't usually like things to be overdone but I do really like the sky in this one

Thanks, yeah most of the time I'm not a huge fan of ever-processed images, but on this instance given the subject and the completly bland sky I decided it was a prime candidate for going OTT :)

Love the rust one, the colour is just fab!

I left my camera down the allotment in the polytunnel once, was only alone for 5 mins as i made a mad dash back for it! :bonk:

Is the last shot form near the hovercrafts? Sure ive seen it before

Thanks Lisa, I think rust is a great abstract subject matter.

I felt so sick that I had left my camera at work, altogether there was about £3k worth of gear in my bag. But the place was locked up soon after I left, so went in first thing to make sure it was there.

You are spot on, the jurassic sign is at the fair ground right next to where the solent hovercraft comes ashore.

30th July: Churchill Tank outside the D-Day Museum, Southsea Portsmouth.

Today was the first day using my new Canon 50mm 1.4 lens, just love the narrow DoF with this lens wide open. This shot was taken at 2.0 Av and I think it makes the tank almost toy like. Looking forward to using this lens a lot more :)

Nope :D just one benefit of my new job in Portsmouth, If I get in early enough I take a trip down to the sea front to photo something. My last 2 shots this week are about 2 minutes walk from each other

It does look like a toy, sure it isnt one of yours you been playing with and your just saying its a real tank

Glad your enjoying your new toy

Thanks Lisa. Was taking pics around the office at 1.4 and going 'wooow, look at the DoF on that!', they probably think I'm mad:nuts:

A B&W conversion would not have done the shot justice IMO so well done for resisting the urge

Very toy-like. Low DOF is very addicitive. I'm just waiting my 30mm 1.4 arriving and it's not coming quick enough! :dummy:

Thanks Chris,

Playing with DoF is just so cool, off to search around the house for my next DoF victim ;)

Mmmm 30mm 1.4 should be very nice, looking forward to seeing your shots :)

Great shots recently Julian. I love the Chichester shot - at first glance I thought the statue was given the 'V' sign!

Rusty Groyne thing - love the colour!

Decaying Southsea attraction - Yeah man!

Tank - I thought you'd been doing Airfix when I first saw it! Good shot - I didn't know that was there - might have to pay a visit myself.

Keep up the good standard - you're an inspiration!

Nice shots - I have started looking at a 50mm. The Nikon 1.8 is tempting (i.e. cheap) but I would have to put up with only having manual focus on the D40 :(

I have started working on Tanja (you know that money that we got for Jacob - well so that he can have a nice photographic record of his early years I really need....)

Thanks nic, I know where your coming from, tried this approach with my wife, she is wise to it now, so I just buy it and tell her the cost straight off, quick pain is the best approach I've found ;)

Not been in the D-day museum yet, but as well as the Churchill out front, there is a Sherman right behind and a large field gun.

31st July: Crazy Marina

Went out with the new 50mm 1.4, to take some cool narrow DoF shots, but the inspiration was not there, whilst walking around the marina. Due to the colours, I decided this was a prime candidate for negative curves adjustment in PS. Probably a love/hate shot, but I can't stop looking at it (taken at 2.0 Av, with focus on the boat in the foreground)

Thanks mate, tried negative conversion before but never works. Think it worked this time thanks to the White boats and deep blue sky

1st August: Messing around with the 50mm at 1.4 Aperture.

So that's enough processing, time to drink my subject matter . . . . . . .
