I’ve used ORATE for a long time based on the commonest letters in the WORDLE word list.

I’ve also always used the so called HARD mode rather than the default, though whether it’s harder is debatable.
 
5 for me today. Blanked with my first guess, yxxyx with the second, xyygx followed by a wrong guess at gxggg then the only viable option.

Used to use the same word every day but now just think of a 5 letter word that'll probably be on the list.
 
5 here. I use ORATE as my opener. It's not done well lately so is on probation.

I suggest you change your starter … which inevitably (Sod’s Law) will mean your luck will get worse … but mine will get better :D:exit:

3g by where the greens were I thought it would be easy, then realised just how many possibilities there were..........
3g but by now I'd eliminated a lot of important letters so should be easier still so............
4g (picked the wrong one)
5g (got there in the end)
Why do I now have a certain tv ad playing in my mind......? :LOL:
 
3 today. Only two possibles I think after 2nd row XOOXO and I guessed correctly.

According to most websites E R A O T are the commonest letters in the WORDLE word list (in that order too, I think) hence the popularity of ORATE/OATER which uses all those. However, I’m not sure that is necessarily the best strategy, maybe other words are more likely to get letters in the correct place or some other possibility. People here seem to use a wide variety of starters and my impression is that success is spread pretty randomly among us. I suppose we could compare stats.

I don’t know why “3” is picked out. I think I’ve used ORATE/OATER throughout this. If it throws up no result I try a word with the missing vowels eg UNITY.

Not 100% sure how but I got a 3 today. Poor start with a xxxxg which became a xxgyg and evolved.

TBH, even though it was only a few minutes ago, I can't remember the start word or solution without looking back at it!
 
I use ATONE as my starter and URSID on the few occasions it blanks.
