I have 2 from Batterybusiness on ebay as have many others here. There's nothing wrong with them, they even have the chip to show battery condition and level.

Because a google search has brough up nothing - yet folk still claim it might happen...
Personally I have used 3rd party batteries for years - and while some may fail to hold charge quicker I've never had a real problem. Since I can buy 5 of those 7 day shop batteries for the price of a single Canon branded one I know am not overly concerned about the fact they may last less time.
