I like it, my kind of angle, nice touch including its reference number, the only crit i could give is the pole could be a bit more detailed, I am sure you could bring it out a touch more in PP.
There is one thing I am disappointed about, there are no cows or cheese, how did you miss that connection:eek::)

You know what... I seriously considered that!

However this pole is outside my house and the sky was quite good yesterday, so all I had to do was wait 2 mins for a cloud....

Thank you. :) This telephone pole is right outside my house - I can even see it from my computer desk! - so the theme was a no brainer for me this week.

It's actually a re-shoot of sorts, as I have shot it before (not for my '52) but I wasn't satisifed that I had done it well. I think I did a better job this time using a wider lens and a smaller aperture and including the numbers so I'm a happy bunny today.

:thinking:, this didn't grab me much on first look.... the central pole but not central numbers, no wires starting in a corner... pole slightly dark (for me anyway), but after I'd spent time looking for why it didn't grab me I realised I'd been looking around it for quite a while - so it obviously did grab me. :thumbs: Always being drawn back to the top of the pole.

Well on theme, the cloud atop the pole as a nod to the "cloud" based communication / connections of the modern age?? Juxtaposed with the traditional wire based connections.

Nice one matey. :clap:

Thanks Graham, I'm sure that not everyone will find this interesting. :) Glad you came to like it in the end. I connect to the telephone network and the internet via this pole... including TP and the icloud too!

I have re-linked to Flickr, hopefully it's working properly again now.

I enjoyed your backstory as to the location of the telegraph pole and how you can see it from your window.

It just goes to show that there are 'photographs' all around.

You've taken a simple object and taken an interesting perspective on it :thumbs:
I am not sure the symmetry that others have mentioned is achieveable :thinking: Maybe lining up the letters centrally would help but then that would throw the wires out.
I think i will settle for the quirkiness of it and ignore my inner OCD :lol:

Thats all a ramble with no particular crit :lol:
It works in its simplicity, I will leave it at that!

Thank you Iain, this is not the only shot I took of it, and I promise you it doesn't work quite so well when it's perfectly aligned, a bit like the rule of thirds really I suppose it's just more "pleasing" to the eye when it's not straight down the middle.

I'm glad you like it. :thumbs:
 
I like that a lot. It's so simple and sparse, but works so well. Central composition works well, and the depth of colour in the sky punctuated with the scattering of clouds is great. Can't help but follow the pole up to the sky.

Connection - simple and effective. Good angle and a complementary sky . I take your points about the non regularity of parts of the shot and trust your judgement. Just a little dark on the pole on my monitor.

Errr And it is Wednesday and no @Beginning@. Are you sick?? :thinking:
 
Really like the connection image.. All the wires in different directions keeps the eyes busy.. The numbers on the pole really help.. Nice one. Thumbs

Seriously, I have been trying to get an "Adam" selfie with a fig leaf! - but nothing was suitable for TP! :shake:

Hi Brian

Excellent pic of the swans, the water is excellent the swans all in a line and the way they are moving into the calmer clear water and a great reflection too :clap:
 
I thought it was just another swan shot until I saw the reflection, excellent capture to get it so sharp, it's almost like glass.
 
That's really nice, a lovely capture. I've noticed all the signets in St James's park at the moment, and to get the entire brood like that out on the water is priceless. The reflection and the contrast between the choppy and still water really put it a cut above. Bravo! :clap:

Thanks everyone, They were coming out of a narrow channel and under a footbridge, hence the dark water in front of them. I saw them approaching and waited until just about the right moment, then I shot a burst of shots about 3 seconds long! this was the pick.

Still a bit miffed i didn't get my fig leaf shot - oh well there's always the re-shoot, :thinking: perhaps I should do it at Halloween?

fwiw. I did a more "serious" effort (it's on flickr) where I tried some PP to try and make it look like an old painting and that sort of worked but tbh it was as boring as hell and I preferred this funny one that I came up with at the end.

Its got it all, composition, reflection, leading lines, subject matter and it tells a little story in itself, great work.

Still, whats not to like about this, a fun, creative and well executed take on the theme :thumbs:

Swan shot is super-duper Brian, having them all in a line is something you just don;t see, the reflection and the contrast between the smooth and rippled water as said really makes it.

hmmm - glad to see your fruit face got explored.... how strange as when I first saw it I took it to be a fun, almost "throwaway" image, but with 3,500 views there must be something in it.

I actually much prefer the second, but even that now is ruined for me as I can't look at the pineapple without seeing those silly red tomato eyes. :lol: (Like the processing though).

Saying all that - I still can't suppress a laugh whenever I look at the face, so maybe there is something there. So a YAY from me too.. :thumbs:
