At the moment i have a 400d,is the 40d & the 50d full frame cameras,as i might have a look at them.:)

No the 40D & 50D are both 1.6 crop factor sensors :)

So not much point upgrading to them then?.:)

The 40D & 50D have plenty of advantages over the 400D but they are around build quality and the features on the camera, not sensor size. So, if you're looking to upgrade to a full frame (Canon) DSLR then you need to be looking at the 5D, 5D MkII, or 1Ds.

Thanks for that.

I have the 40D and compared to the 450D it's a heavy beastie because of the alloy body etc. I still love it though :D

Thanks guys.:)

I was told that you only need full frame if you are printing larger than A3. Not sure how true that is?!?!?!?

Ahh, right oh! I won't listen to that bloke anymore! :D

not the one in your head i hope :p

DAMN! i've been found out
[voice in head- Shhh keep quiet, they may not notice!]
b****r!
:cuckoo::lol:

I'm about to purchase a 50d tomorrow, moving up to it from a 450d after only two months of ownership. The moment I held a 50d in my hand and heard that sublime shutter noise, I knew it was for me.

Everything about it just feels so perfect. The weight, the texture, the balance, everything is spot on.

b****r me, I just realised how much I'm looking forward to tomorrow haha

leave1 what lenses do you have? this camera needs good glass.

Leave1 - I upgraded from a 450 to the 50d within a few couple of ownership. The difference is sublime, the 50d is a fantastic camera, you will love it. I do agree with others though, I really think you need good glass to get the best out of it.

cant really complain about those lenses!

I upgraded from the 350d to a 40d because of the build quality and the higher fps (for shooting bands).
I will now be keeping my 40d for a while (even if people try tempting me with their shiny 50d's and 5d MKii's  ) and focusing on upgrading to glass that is really top draw.

I want to look at getting a 24-70 f2.8L and a 70-200 f2.8L as they are the main lenses i use. Not sure about what wide angle lens to get yet. Im very happy with my Siggy and Tamron for the moment but i want that sweet sweet L glass

I have gone from a 400 to a 50D and it was definitely worth it :D

Same here, although I have kept the 400D as a spare body and have a lens attached to it when I'm at events so I have all bases covered!

Would recommend stepping from the 400D to either the 40/50D and getting used to a lot more freedom and playing around with Custom Functions before making the step up to Full Frame

Dont tempt me again! i have some more images i could post! :p

I have both of those for my newly acquired 40D, and they are sublime.

Don't make better pictures, but they make the poor pictures look better :D

Its official, i now hate you two

33L, you will have my misses to answer to if i end up buying one! Ill blame it all on you and tell her you made me do it like a voice inside my head

Simmotino, If they as good as my siggy and tamron, but with faster focusing and increase the shots-to-missed shots like i think they will then they will be worth the extra investment. I think ill keep my eyes out here for used ones as of next year after my wedding

I've not regretted buying either of them.

Well, apart from the time I got a sore hand because I was stroking them too much, but that's another story......

I still use my 400D as it is an excellent camera and saves keep changing lenses - did think it might be a bit excessive if I took the 350 out as well with yet another lens though and will probably part with that one.
