Daily 365 Photos 2013.

Jeff's suggestion is good getting rid of the window handle............ but........ i like the flowers to the left with the negative space and not such a close up... if that makes sense...

I get what you're trying to achieve... i like it....... maybe jump on the flowers and mangle them..... def be more dead then!:D

So violent....:bat:

Haha thanks guys. Spent all night in A&E with my mum. Found a shadow on her lung and have to wait 2 weeks for a CT scan. The flowers aren't fit for the bin yet but many would throw them out at this stage anyway.. I'm keeping them until there's no other option but to do so  They're a bit desolate and it's not looking good but they've still got time.. I thought it was a good "fit" and feel for today's feelings :shake:

Hope she will be ok Toni

Thanks. This is a running theme in our family and circle of family friends. A shadow shows up, it's "treated for an infection" then "oops, soz, it's cancer." :shake:

The scan will follow halfway between my birthday and mother's day.

well heres hoping that the theme changes :) .... prayers and strength for you all hun xxx

Well Toni, sorry to hear that news I hope it works out as best it can. I like the flowers in the window shot you really feel the mood so well done! Now the other one.. YOU GOT AN X10!! With a red shutter button too now that is exciting :)

Another great portrait of your incredibly patient hubby (Day 48)! and I don't think you overcooked the castle as well - looking at your later comments, you did a fantastic job in restrictive conditions; you had a stunning end to your personal challenge, Toni, very strong finish; the snow drops are really well done - I can't seem to take a good photo of them for some reason, so enjoyed seeing yours! :)

Thanks :) I'm over the shock of it now but it's still a bit...

Do you have an x10? I've been too tired and emotionally drained today, literally all I've done is take it out the box to photograph it. Haven't even turned it on yet! I've had an x100 and I'm very surprised at how small the x10 is!

well heres hoping that the theme changes :) .... prayers and strength for you all hun xxx

Thank you Carol xxx

Ah thanks Sam! :D I'm really, really happy with the snow drops photo.. I love it :) Which is odd in itself; it's not the type of photo I usually have an opinion of.. it's not usually something that interests me! But I've found the 365 is forcing me to photograph things that don't really interest me (like the snow drops and flowers in general) and I'm finding that I do quite enjoy it!

Firstly sorry to hear about your mum Toni, and I'm keeping everything crossed for you that it's not the news that you maybe expecting to hear :hug2:

Love the desolate shot, nice idea with the original, but have to agree that the window handles to distract a bit, I do prefer the edited version, but as you say does take the edge off slightly from the original idea :)

Thank you guys :) It means a lot!

I'm speaking to a girl on modelmayhem... have a shoot I really want to do, I hope she's up for it.

I'm getting insanely jealous of your camera collection and I too am a big fan of negative space, so can overlook the window handle in the flower shot.

Really sorry to read about your mum, hope she is ok.

Loving the photo's since my last visit  I love all the flower photo's  both the cut ones with great processing and the snow drops, just wonderful  but all the photo's are of a very high standard

Thanks very much Matt!!

ooooh, sounds exciting

It is! She loves the idea. Now just have to find out whether it can actually be done...

Just catching up on your shots Toni & thoughts are with you for a positive outcome for your Mum, at least they are getting things moving for her. Go with her and push for checks and treatment.

Thank you. More news today which I'll elaborate on further down.

Just catching up! Another lovely portrait. The crop of the flowers is much better :)

Thanks Jake!

The situation with my mum was, she has a shadow on her lung. They're treating it as an infection and she was to go back in 2 weeks for a repeated x ray. If it was still there, she would be sent for a CT scan; the current waiting list is 16-18 weeks long.

My mum was here visiting when she got a call from the hospital today. The radiologist has seen the scan and she cannot wait; she will have an emergency CT scan within the week. We both broke down when she got off the phone and, right now, I just feel numb. Like I'm talking about someone else :shake:

So trying to get on with things... I took my new x10 out. I don't know if I'm just not getting the hang of it as easily as I did with the x100 but I'm just not impressed...

This is today's POTD. The little figures I made one very drunken night about a month before our wedding... we ended up using them on the guestbook table lol. They're about an inch, inch and a half tall.

And here are the others I've taken..

Some wonderful shots today Toni! And I'm so sorry to hear about your mother. Best wishes!

I'm not sure what to make of the results from the x10... small, they look okay but bigger? I'm not sure.

Thank you.

Toni, think positive, they are being really pro-active & getting things moving for you. I hope the outcome is good for you and your family.

Thanks Sarah. Just going to take it a day at a time until we get a definitive answer.

Lovely shots today Toni - and very much hoping for the very best outcome for your mum :hug2:

Sorry to hear about your mum - it's scary when you get calls like that from the hospital - hope she gets a good result from the test.

Love the recent shots, esp the snowdrop.

I love your latest shots, Toni - very cute little figures there! :)

I am sorry to hear about your Mother and will be thinking of you both and hoping for a very positive outcome.

Toni,

Positive thinking and belief.....fingers crossed for your Mum and your family, don't dwell on what might be....

Nice close up shots Toni. Try to remain positive hun, we're all here for you :) x

Thank you everyone. It's tough :shake:

I'm struggling with the x10. I feel like I've just picked up a camera for the first time ever again. With my Canon, I keep 9.5 out of 10 photos I take. With the x10? I seem to keep 1 out of every 10. If I get lucky. I just can't figure it out at all.

These are the only keepers I got today, out of over 100. Sigh.

And today's POTD. I would have gone for the photo of me and Colin lying down but... ... My mum gets the spot.

Day 54. Mum. by Toni Darling Photos, on Flickr

I've also been experimenting with different processing techniques... Hours later, I'm frustrated. I think I should leave the experimenting for either Canon photos or for when (if?) I finally figure this x10 out. I'm --->this<--- close to chucking it in the bin.

Lovely portrait of your mum and the others are superb too. Really like the one of Colin laughing.

Love the little mini figures and snowdrops... but for me as always are the ones of you and Colin... fantastic!!

I do hope everything turns good with your mum, it's a tough time.... I think that maybe why you are struggling with the x10.... if you are stressing emotionally it's hard getting to grips with something else.... keep at it your shots are lovely with BOTH cams:D:thumbs:

Thanks guys! T you could be right! However, I think it's just my ineptitude

Another from the x10.

Missed focus (it's on her nose) because I was more interested in just getting it and she was more interested in the smell of chicken from the kitchen!

I've been asked about my processing a few times.. so I thought some might like to see this.

Actually I think tht havng the focus on her nose works really well here. The DOF is not so great that her eyes are completely out of focus - glad tht you cloned the head out behind her :D

Hi Toni. I dont know how I have gotten so far behind with your thread. Great photograpy as usual especially the portraits. Stick with the x10, im sure you will get the hang of it.
Sorry to hear about your mum, hopefully all will be ok. Our family wentnthrough something likenthis a few years back, I know how tough it can be on everyone. X

Love the boxer shot, but something about the middle shot of the processing makes me like it the most, think it's the lovely conker brown shiny coat that does it. Although I like the muted background of the end result.
