Daily 365 Photos 2013.

I was just looking at some threads google pulled up comparing the 500D and 5D and it seems like it'll be a decent upgrade, albeit losing some features. The majority of which I don't use anyway!

I didn't realise the 500D had it until about 2 weeks ago! I've had this camera a LONG time

Hi, Toni, playing catch up with a lot of threads at the moment!

Your SP was excellent and impressive for a handheld - love the way it is lit!

Your dog looks like he's contemplating ripping your leg off so, although I am sure he is a cutie most of the time, you got a good shot of him looking like a bit of a nutter! Brilliant expression on his little face! :)

I prefer your first landscape personally! I know what you mean about finding it difficult to get to grips with things you are not as comfortable with or interested in. I am not a fan of in-the-house shots and portraits as I find them so hard!

I love the photo of Charlie and the second (cropped) version is by far the best version - the tighter crop really 'makes' it! :)

Like Murphy thought doesn't look that happy with you (I know another dog called Murphy coincidentally)
And you have done excellently with Charlie too, well done with catching up with him.

Ahh thanks you two!! Murphy was not impressed that I was waving his beloved ball by my head and not letting him get up from where he was sitting lol!

Day 11. by Toni Darling Photos, on Flickr

I took quite a few shots today and each one could have easily been my "shot of the day" but, in the end, I went with this one. There's just something about it that I love and it's so different from anything else I've shot for 365 so far. Straight out of the camera.

The others... just because!

Think I overcooked my models skin?

I really like the one you have chosen. I love a bit of stark abstract.

I love the simplicity of the one you have chosen..

Loving them all tho and glad you showed us!:D

Just some amazing shots. The portraits of Charlie & Murphy are wonderful, and your day 11 pic I really like. Normally not a big fan of those kind of shots, but you've turned me :)

Love the shots especially the last one of Murphy ... his ' Is ANYONE going to help me ???? .... or NOT????' Look

Your abstract is nice but they aren't really something that I am into.
Love the last one of Murphy though, lovely.

Like the model but yes, her skin looks a bit plastic...

Love the last one of Murphy - he is sooo cute!

Love day 11, really strong image.

Regarding your lens shopping, I believe the canon crop sensor to full frame conversion is 1.6, so a 50mm lens on a crop gives the equivalent field of view of an 80mm (1.6x50) on a full frame. Hope that helps :)

Also, not sure why you would consider the 50mm f1.4 when you already have the f2? Is the image quality really that much better, or the shallower depth of field so important (shrugs) just a thought, I'll shut up now :)

I thought so too Lynn but she insisted ;) Thanks!

And thank you, Colin!! It's the 70 odd pound 50mm 1.8 I have. It's on its last legs... The 1.4 has faster autofocus anyway but the 1.4 is like the concorde compared to my battered, tricycle 1.8. It's been through the wars!! If it wasn't for the fact it's the only lens I have to shoot with that I like, it'd be in the bin already

Day 12. Caitlin & Sam. by Toni Darling Photos, on Flickr

Well, the shoot that resulted in this shot was sprung on me yesterday! I had the best time and thanks to Matt for helping

You can see the rest of them here or here.

She's gorgeous.. and the rest on fb are stunning:thumbs:

I like that portrait, nice and bright and vibrant. You got a very good series there.

Ahh thanks everyone! Hopefully it appears on your screen as it does on mine  this calibration thing makes my head swim... mine isn't...

Thank you Matt!

I think today's is going to be one of those "taking a picture just to keep up" days... I just woke up (really late night!) and we leave for the airport in about 3.5 hours so my camera will be packed away soon.... not much I can photograph in a moving car and not sure I'd be appreciated, taking photos in the airport! We'll see :D

we all have days like that (me, it seems, more than most!!)

I'll be home tonight which should help me; there's so much random crap lying around my house to take photos of

A little bit of a rush job, I must admit. I should be packing to go home which means packing my camera so not a lot of time. Also my first time focusing on something that isn't there (me!) haha! Probably not made easier with just the 50mm to use.

Thanks guys! Sarah, I quite like portraits where the subject's looking out of the frame :D I used to get crap in college for it but I like it :D
