Wow.....Pete giving out man-hugs, he must be feeling a little better :) And obviously not going for forum villian next year.

I think with this 365 Pete, we'll see a different side to you than we've seen before. And I hope this time you are able to complete it.

As for the book, no-one does HDR like Pete Carr does HDR - even if it sometimes looks like you've had too much acid  :p

Chin up though Pete, "today" has just been one of those days, tomororw will be different.

 Good going Pete. I'm chuffed you're keeping this up so far. It gives people a real insight to who you are. Maybe after a few months of this more people will start to 'get' you :)

I also think you're showing a lot of your feminine side recently. So I think a pic of you in a skirt at some point would be good :D

Good going dude :). Love the first pic, jolly good show. **** tucker anyway, he's so old he has hairs on the soles of his feet.

Pete, I have to agree with Toothie and mobilevirgin... Stick with your convictions and after completing such a massive task just chill, take a step back and appreciate what you've accomplished. I for one take a look at your HDR work all the time and reference your guide on vanilladays to help with my own work. HDR will always have its doubters but I believe your work in this area stands on the shoulders of most of the other stuff I've seen on the net. (Num #1 on google.co.uk). Buying a book written by someone I've known for quite a while and personally knowing a pioneer as far as I'm concerned in this field of photography I'm chuffed for you. Well Done !! :)

Cheers mate :)

Well that was unexpected..

Not exactly unexpected ;) but definitely out of order.

Haha. Of course it was expected. I mentioned HDR ;)

Name calling at age 51 just seems so sad. Ah well, each to their own.

Indeed. What a silly mother tucker.

Back to the photo. :)

Sorry to read of the reasons for posting this photo Pete but I have to say it's quite a powerful image of your struggle to be understood in the field that you have chosen.
Not exactly fluffy kittens or cheerleaders today eh.

I'm working on the fluffy cheerleaders :)

That's a great photo Pete, really gets the mood across. Didn't see the "personal attack" posts but I'm sure you won't let them get to you. I did see the "argument" thread about HDR yesterday, what a mountain out of a molehill that was. Didn't think that would get to you but just goes to show that the strongest of us have their dark moments. Here's to a better day today!

Thanks mate :)

Thank god for that ;)

Look forward to seeing the rest mate! Hope you pull it off :)

Me too :) It would be nice to do it.

The fact about the whole bitching about HDR, it doesn't half annoy me.
There is no point to it whatsoever!
Don't let it get you down mate.
Revel in the idea that the people who try and act so big and tough and shout at everyone on the internet with their OH SO POWERFUL keyboard, wouldn't dare say it to anyone's face ;)

Aye. Keyboard warriors are fun to play with though ;)

well done pete, dont let it get you down.

to be fair, if you like hdr keep doing it, and perhaps if the arguments over it get you down, just make the one comment in the thread and leave it at that. everyone has likes and dislikes, and HDR seems to be the marmite of the photography world.

good luck and keep going, you will be surprised how many people will be watching this with interest in you as a person

Thanks :) When I tried to do it last year friends told me that its like a superhero thing. The best superheros are the ones who struggle against odds to be superheros, instead of like Superman who simply is super. Batman for example, especially in the newer films. Just a guy trying his best to make a difference. Not that I'm a superhero or anything :suspect: but apparently people get or understand your more when they see that you're not this amazing godlike HDR guy who makes photos taken with cans of coke into gold (not that I am. Though I have enough empty cans of coke to try).

Keep it going dude, keep it going

Cheers :)

Wow, I've seen a few of these portraits up on yer flickr, I love all of them, particularly the very first.

But with 365.06.080109,

Arguments and bitching. :| It's everywhere, no matter how much we try to avoid or how level or reasonable we try to be, sometimes we will find ourselves slap dab in the middle of it and it will never change.

Arguments and fights can erode my soul, especially when trying to 'debate' or 'discuss' elements that seem to be alien to the other parties.
Regardless of benefit, reason and logic can be less effective when fear of the unknown is concerned.
There also seems to be a lot more blind prejudice currently, especially with new technologies and technique.
It's seemingly difficult for some to allow a difference of belief, thought, method or practice.
Hard opinions and pride are built on unstable foundations or an absence of knowledge, it appears to be the primary resort for those who can't appreciate anything outside the realms of their own appreciation, aspiring to adopt expert opinions on topics that they don't fully understand or comprehend, demanding that these opinions be heard, respected and ultimately believe will make a difference or cause change for the 'better'.

It can be infuriating, exhausting and over powering.

Ah, so be it.

You do what you've always done mate, pick yourself up, dust yourself off, check that the gear still works, throw yourself back into the mix and continue to create. Were right behind ya!

Cheers :) I always seem to pick things that are cutting edge and controversial. That or I just seem to keep picking fights :D

:( i dont get a hug

Of course you do :) I'm a man, so man hugs :D I'm not spefically hugging men :p

Thanks :) I do hope to complete it. We shall see how things are when I've got deadlines and stress to contend with. As for my HDR style, if mine are like too much acid you really shouldn't look at Flickr's "best" :D Thats like an acid pill taking acid and tripping over its self so much that it causes the universe to skip a beat and all the nipples in the world (both male and female) all turn blue.

 Good going Pete. I'm chuffed you're keeping this up so far. It gives people a real insight to who you are. Maybe after a few months of this more people will start to 'get' you :)

I don't have a feminine side, or a skirt :p I do however have a very manly willy if I need to prove anything :p

Good going dude :). Love the first pic, jolly good show. **** tucker anyway, he's so old he has hairs on the soles of his feet.

Danke :D

Did you used to watch Magic Roundabout as a child?!

Missed a few days of this with one thing and another, but good to see you kept at it even on a really bad day. Don't let the HDR debates get you down, if you are not in the mood for giving as good as getting, then walk away, it really isn't worth the stress levels, especially if more important things are causing stress anyway, like the book. Don't worry, even if you step away and miss an argument, there will be another one along shortly ;)

You are doing a great job with this so far Pete, i too hope you complete it as i enjoyed the last one too. Last photo really does convey the mood and stress very well in my opinion and shows a real grittyness.

I look forward to the next shots!

One week down. 51 left. Simple image tonight. Its been a simple day. Had a milkshake from Shakeabout in L1, wandered round with sister and nephew.

Came home and caught up with Gundam 00. Really fantastic Gundam series, totally beats Gundam Seed. I found that far too annoying as the main character spent most of the series crying, whining about the evils of war and not wanting to fight. Screw that. Its Gundam. I wanna see mechs fighting not kids crying. Thankfully Gundam 00 delivers in spades. Really great, and in HD too. The model featured is from Gundam Wing. I need to get something from 00 some day.

Its Anime. Japanese animation. The keyboard is the standard Mac keyboard. A really nice one.

Ah me too. Just I use it as a desktop now :) External monitor and nicer keyboard.

A long day. This is me doing a silly tourist photo. As you can see I managed to take my self by surprise too. Gotta love the D700's ISO6400 support. Amazing camera. Loing it so so much. After this I went to cover the street events and its like day time at ISO6400. So clean, so much light. Perfect exposures. I <3 this camera.

This entry sponsored by Gitzo. Still gotta do todays.

Not a talent I want to look into, no pun intended :)
