2nd hand Nikon body bargains?

I'm sure at some point in the future I'll want to upgrade again, but spending 280 (which is what I ended up doing) was really the max. 2nd hand market is good though as I won't lose too much when I sell it on, just like my d80. I shouldn't lose anything on it really.

D3 ? Massive performance, awesome build quality - cheap as chips now.

This is now the way to go OR a D700 either way a very credible body. The D3 is still my Favorite Body, Its so forgiving for me with my 70 200 VR1 on its a killer combo for stage work - I have a D3s and a D810 and a D500 and they are all good But the D3 is like a big old dog that just delivers every time. Dont think I have ever changed a battery on the go either although I have several D3 is a great camera!

:agree:

I can assure you, you'll love a d700 or d3 when you've saved enough, please believe me.
I found a big difference going from a d3200 to the d7000 and when I got a d700 as a full frame...I can tell you I prefer images from that and the d3 for all bar my wildlife images.
I'm still new at all this Fraser but rest assured the d7000 is a great camera.

I would not get either. The D3s had a monster score on dxo high iso tests. Totally wiped the floor with the D3 / D700 score and that is the one I'm watching out for

Well you've obviously a larger budget than us lesser mortals.
If I could afford the d3s i'd have got it, we're talking bodies on a budget in this thread.

Most D3 are easily £650+ so hardly cheap. Most would probably be much happier with a D610 for that money because the D3 is a big heavy lump.

You can't go wrong with a d300 buddy, absolute bargain and would be around the 250 mark too.

£159 I had a good d300 on ebay.

I think mpb or whatever many seem to be using for used gear are overcharging compared to the supplier I use on ebay that are the same business model.

Damn, that's very cheap indeed. I must be getting confused with the D300s for that price. £159? That's a fantatsic price for a D300, I might have to pick one up myself if they're around that price.

I know, but try telling someone who wants the latest sensor tech. They would rather have a d3200 or d5200.

Personally I've never been one to care too much about current tech. I'm still rocking a d2Xs... I know it's not great by todays standards but I love it nonetheless.
The D300 has a solid sensor even by todays standards and it's build quality is right up there too. For that price, you can't really go wrong at all.

I love it, such a pity they never made a D400 in 2011`ish with a 16mp sensor and newer tech. I feel the pain of the d300s users having to wait for the d500

Looks like a nice trip to Paris, you had there! Did you go anywhere else whilst in France?

The D7000 ? Are these straight out of the camera or have done any editing to them???

Had an Amazing Journey to Paris. Really loved my time over there!!
I went to many places but Marseille (old port) and the Calanques, Strasbourg (Gothic cathedral), Arles (Gallo-Roman structures) were my best visited places :)

Nope, pictures are straight out of the Blues! Haven't done any kind of editing or retouching to the same!!

Looks like you covered a lot ground on the trip..........................it would nice to see a few images of those places you mention as I have yet to visit them and would be welcome to see what you 'saw' in them?

So, the d7000 arrived today. First impressions are as follows:

1) almost identical controls to my d80 but with just enough changes to keep me on my toes
2) the back screen is night and day. Huge improvement which I wasn't expecting.
3) low light performance is much better.. which was to be expected.
4) dual sd card slots!

only managed a few test shots around the house so far but I think the clarity has improved.. although my skills have not so I'm still getting blurry shots. But , I think this set-up is well worth the practice!

Cheers everyone !

The second one I have owned turned up today also.

I had to change most settings to suit myself straight away, Especially reversing the exposure meter because I find it more intuitive.

I have a book called mastering the Nikon d7000 from the first time I owned one.

It is almost 500 pages long and I read it several times over.

It is a complicated camera and I would recommend that book to help learn it fully.

Something to do at night.

By the way incase you did not know there is an AF mode button in a very strange place on the front of the camera.

it is part of the switch that changes between AF and M. You hold it down and change it with the front command dial I think.

When my one turned up it was on auto AF point select and I hate that mode, the camera focuses on whatever it wants in that mode.

Change it so there is a single AF point that you move around yourself if you have not done it already

Pictures you have taken with your D7000?

No editing, straight out of the camera?

Strange that.

Because both of the pictures you have posted were taken with a Canon EOS 1300D ;)
