I Love the 24-70 f2.8L...But can't afford it. Simple.
What's the next best 3rd party choice?

I would recommend the 24 105 f4L as a good alternative, if you get a white boxed one they tend to go for a lot less.
Since when was this lens a Third Party one?:bonk:
Its to put on my 5d and do wedding/corporate/event work with. I'd like to buy right first time and keep rather than trade in in 6 months time. Iq is top of my agenda and i've read great things about the sigma.
Buy cheap, buy twice![]()
I saw a canon 28-70 2.8L go for 279+VAT the other day, from one of the pro-rental outlets.
Not a million miles away!
What Sigma you reckon?

Ok, it's a Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 EX DG
That shot of Ruby was taken @f2.8 ISO 800
Just got it today, for a grand total of £250 all in.
For 250 notes I am incredibly impressed with it..........

Conversely, the one I had was horribly soft at f/2.8.Get the Sigma 24-60mm f2.8 if you can find one.
Mine is sharp open wide in most focal lengths and much sharper then the copies of the 24-70mm and 28-70mm Sigma's I had before.
