I'm constantly amazed at technological advances there are some cleaver people working mostly for the military in reality, but the cynic in me often wonders how much of what they do put out like this is complete and utter BS, I mean if they've got the kind of skills/knowledge to bring tech like this to the field is it not about time that CCTV stopped being the grainy useless pile of crap that it usually still is  :suspect:

Yes, I have often wondered about that. Some of the security camera clips we see on the likes of Crimewatch are next to useless.

Beuse not every BP petrol station can afford to have military technology watching their fuel pumps? This isn't actually all that new, high res mosaics of things with multiple cameras have been around for a bit. I think the only differences is the video aspecto of it.

Personaly, this is ok. What scares me is the 'everyone tracked all the time bs'. While they seem quite insistant on this in the US I hope it never finds its way overe here. There needs to be a limit somewhere.

It's getting close to already being here, every road into and out of Warrington has ANPR cameras up and running 24/7

Years ago they were talking about putting tachographs in 3.5t vans to monitor drivers hours, legally you're only allowed to drive a van for 10 hours a day maximum

With ANPR technology I think they're heading towards traffic monitoring to establish how many hours someone has been driving if there's a serious accident

Shop CCTV will always be rubbish because your average corner shop owner won't spend 2-3k on a HD system if all they sell is beans

A lot of the rubbish CCTV pics being shown have been taken of robberies in banks.
