    You will need software and a Spider that goes onto the screen and detects colours. They range from around £80 to £400 depending if you want to check the calibration from input right through to output.

    Is your focus assist light on? I used to use a D40x, now assigned to IR, at it was terrible at AF in dark rooms even with the focus assist light on! The D60 was just a small step up the ladder from the D40x and probably has the same issue. May be time to think about upgrading to a body that can...

    The 18-55 wil be ok for some night time shots, but what range of f-stops does the lens have? This may limit what you can achieve.

    CS4 converting to black and white

    You say that you 'covert to B&W'. I take it this is just a process in CS4. I always add two layers and the top one is desaturated. You will need to calibrate your monitor also as you may have an issue that isn't showing on your screen. Try Silver Efex, by far the best B&W convertor.

    Black and White

    You can check the blacks and the white by using the a levels layer in PS and holding down the pointer at each end whilst pressing the alt key on your keyboard, this will only highlight the whites or blacks.

    If you buy a used item that has already been registered with them you can provide proof that you bought it. They will then accept it and register it.

    I had the same issue with a D300. I turned out the display had blown.
