    60d spec higher than 650d?

    The 650D has a touchscreen, which makes it a lot more intuitive to make changes. However the top LCD on the 60D would be very useful to determine what the current settings are.

    lens advice

    If you don't mind grey imports, you could get the 650D + kit lens considerably cheaper from DigiRev. They are well-regarded even on these forums, and that should free up some funds to invest in a better lens. Used 70-200mm f/4 go for around £350 - £390 on ebay.

    By the way, a number of third party manufacturers are highly regarded. I use a Meike-branded grip with my 650d and at £22, it's a steal. There are tons of favourable reviews online, so it might be worth a try if you feel like saving a few quid. That said, the ebay item you linked to looks to...

    I've been looking at getting the monopod, but I'm not sure what head to use with it. Most online reviews seem to talk about the RSH-20 Mini Ball Head, but I can't find that on their website.

    Tripod Recommendations

    I recently got a Mantona Pro Makro, and I think it's pretty decent for the price. I normally use it with an EOS 650D with a 18-135mm lens, but I reckon it should easily handle your equipment. As a bonus, it comes with a head and a bag, but it lightweight enough to attach to a backpack.
