Apart from the obvious convenience of a zoom, there is little comparison between the 24-85vr and almost any Nikon prime. It's an ok zoom. That's the best I can say. Many of the older d primes will be far better in terms of iq. And of course many are f/2 or better.

Hi I'd try an ultrasonic cleaner. About £30 from Amazon. Have used mine to clean sunglasses when they get suncream on them. They come up mint. Just need to change the water more regularly. The other item I use it to clean are watches. Again , they come out spotless.

Great lens. Always impresses me. And it takes the Nikon TC's. Used mine at motorsport yesterday with the 1.4, but could have done with the 1.7. You may miss the 2.8 of the errrr 2.8, but you'll not miss the weight. This goes on my bag ,"just in case". Doubt I'd do that with the 2.8.

As above. You need to download the latest version. Then it'll work. Had a similar issue with a d3200 and nx2.

Make sure your flash can do HSS. Or if it can't, make sure you remember. My two Y 565ex's, which is why I usually just take my sb-910 most places. Any wedding work with lenses wide open would suggest that HSS is a must.

What the above have said. I have the nikkor 35-70 F/2.8 and the tamron 28-70 F/2.8. Both good lenses. Bothe represent great vfm. Whilst the nikkor does lack contrast and a bit at the wide end, it has a really usefull close up / semi macro facility. Good old skool solid lens. One of my favourites.

I've the same body and lens. One plus of the newer sigmas is the ability to AF adjust via the dock. That allows different offsets at four distances. But again, you need to do the rest properly in order to input the correct offsets.
