Is there a name for this Technique?

From memory I have seen this done by Joel Grimes and Calvin Hollywood, probably a few others I can't remember as well. Also you can get the same result putting the black and white on the bottom and changing the top layer to Color

    What camera and lens?

I shot this with a 5d2 and a sigma 50mm https://flic.kr/p/cWQGm3 Something like a canon 6D should be ok and give a nice ISO bump over the old 5D2 and within the 6D2 announced there should be plenty second hand or new prices will be at an all time low. If it were me I would get a 6D and...

Beginner 2 from my first 20 shots

My first thought is that they look like pictures taken in your back garden..what is not in your photo can be as important as what is in it.. Robin by Shaun Wilkinson, on Flickr e.g.This stick the bird is on could be taped with a load of gaffer tape to an old broom handle stuck in the ground...

    Old full frame camera

imo the 5d2 is a fantastic camera and it can still hold its own today...I think it was used to win world press picture of the day 2015/2016 (can't remember which one but was recentish!) For me it's drawback is ISO performance. AF while limited to 9 points works pretty good. I am currently on...

Is my new Canon 50 1.2L a bad copy?

Great to know thanks :) The lens is boxed up ready to go back...but this is good advice for anyone else having the same issues

Is my new Canon 50 1.2L a bad copy?

TBF I have never had an issue with any other new lens, but yeah I hear great things about the sigma Art's (I had the old sigma 50mm before that (which was the lens i was upgrading) and that was/is a great lens for the money). One of the things that attracted me to the canon was it was lighter...

Is my new Canon 50 1.2L a bad copy?

I formatted the card but the test shots were just as bad if not worse, to test it was set up 2.5m (optimal testing distance), solid tripod and head (RRS) , illuminated with strong continuos light (via soft box) and shot on a 5d4. AFMA results and QOF (quality of focus results) were very...

Is my new Canon 50 1.2L a bad copy?

The lens tests were done under well lit continuous lighting, (and on a tripod) gave similar results. Using some google-fu I think this high astigmatism result maybe down to a de-centering issue. Certainly I would expect the lens to be sharper

Orange dot on the snow speeder, 1/100 this is pretty typical of the sharpness.

Is my new Canon 50 1.2L a bad copy?

I have always been slightly sceptical about this and have never had any issues with any other of my canon lenses. However i have just upgraded to the canon 50 1.2L I have AFMA'd it using focal and get consistent results over 6/7 tests to be -1/-2. So I am confident the focus is set correctly...

I have an omega planet ocean, this model https://www.omegawatches.com/watches/seamaster/planet-ocean-600m/omega-co-axial-42-mm/23232422101003/ Holding up well to daily use

Metering modes in conjunction with focus points

I think in the canon world you have to go all the way up to the 1d line to get spot metering linked to AF point. Pretty much sure it's not an option on my 5d4

No motivation to use my camera

Many cameras have a remote app these days. I sometimes put the camera around my neck tourist style with the lens cap off, and then walk around using my phone. I suspect everyone just thinks I'm playing Pokemon!
