Remote shutter release for Nikon D800

A little expensive but the Nikon MC-36 works great. Also just got the excellent Triggertrap and App, worth a look if you have an iPhone on Android smart phone! Cheers, Greg

Which Macro Lens for my Nikon DSLR?

105mm VR for me, though macro is the one time I miss the Canon and the amazing 65mm MP-E :'(

What size memory cards do you use?

2 x16gb for me, no card failures to date, hope that isn't the kiss of death

    Which monitor calibration tool

Just bought the 'X-Rite i1 Display Pro' from WEX (with a free shipping voucher from Quidco !). Wish I'd bought one a long time ago and saved all the frustration with over bright displays and dark prints

    Hiring camera bodies?

Stuart's service is indeed superb, a little more difficult with bodies I'd suggest Calumet is the safe option if the event is critical.

Black Rapid RS-7 or Sun Sniper

Sun Sniper for me,, seems to be a litte longer than the BR if you happen to be taller than average.

    Best Carbon Fiber Tripod?

If you really want the best, then have a look at Really Right Stuff. Fantastic quality but at a price!!!

    New panoramic head - WTF?

As per previous advice, with care, pliers and some wd-40 you should be able to free the stud from the existing head. Alternatively simply buy a replacement threaded stud...and be careful not to over tighten ;)

    What strap to choose

The 'Sun Sniper' for me, though all of the brands appear to be more or less the same me. :|

    Sharpening

Appreciate the question was about sharpening, but I'd suggest the focus is a bigger issue with the portrait, looks to me like it’s on the nose and the eyes aren’t sharp.

    Kenko extension tubes 12/20/36

Build quality is ok, but not up to Nikon / Canon quality. AF works well which is potentially an advantage depending on what you’re shooting. For macro the full stack gives a very thin sliver of DOF which is of limited value unless you're into stacking. Shop around the price varies...

    Which Macro Lens

I'd vote for (and personally use) the Nikon 105 VR , but for a cheaper option what about a reversing ring and a std 50mm! GS

Bout to take the plunge with 70-200VR2, But what Filter

+ 1 for UV, it's an expensive lesson to learn after the fact. GS

What TC to go with my 70-200 VRii

I also have a 70-200mm VRII and was looking at the TC-20E III, in truth after the great reviews only hired because I couldn't find one in stock to buy ... but glad I did as there is a very significant (IMHO) impact on focus speed, depends what you're shooting of course ;) GS

    Digital Depot - Brilliant Service

Just treated myself to a new Nikon D3s and a few other bits from Stuart at Digital Depot ... what can I say fantastic service. Firstly tracking down what can be a difficult body to find at the moment, then topped off with great communication and a great price. Cheers, GS
