    I went yesterday, and it was well behind last year. At least another week, though more likely 2 before a full flush of colour. They said that a late frost had delayed the flowers.

    Shooting macro on a 550d

    ...I have the 550d with 100mm macro and it is a good combination. I personally wouldn't go for the 60mm as even with 100mm I often feel the need to get closer.

    Me too... had to purchase some other mags whilst waiting... not too sure my photography has improved as much as my reading.. The 24-105 is a VERY nice lens.. I have this one as well. It's my most used lens. So excellent choice.

    The May issue isn't yet due. According to their site it will be in the shops from the 20th April, so I guess it will be in the post Monday. Better watch out for the postman. . . May be someone could post the homework for those having a problem... I know last months was.

    Depth of field query.

    Looking at the Exif data the 1st is at 13mm and the second at 11mm. So unless you refocussed then this could be the cause of the lack of sharpness. May be switching to MF tweeked the distance ring.

    New to me Canon 40D

    If your disc is Digital Photo Professional(DPP), then that's nice and straight forward for basic editing both Raw and JPEG's. I usually download straight from the camera using windows download, then open the Raw files in DPP where you can adjust WB tone sharpness exposure, crop, etc then...
