You're better off with the 15-85. I've got the 24-105L and it just sits collecting dust, it's sharp, af is great but f4 just doesn't do anything for me (im a prime addict) 15mm on crop is far more impressive than 24mm anyway.

I found my 85mm f1.8 to be really handy at a recent gig, especially on a crop body as it's essentially like a 135mm - AF is lighting quick too. Also had a 55-250mm on me, I know it's not even in the same league as the 70-200L but it did the job pretty well.

Got a Meike for my 550d, build quality (grip, buttons, quality of plastic) wasn't up to the same standard as the original but for a fraction of the cost i couldn't complain. Never had any issues with battery life either - tempted to pick up for my 5D now.

It really depends on what you shoot, i've own all 3 lenses and they're all great but at the end of the day it's about picking the correct focal length. 30mm sigma is probably the most versatile, but the QC is awful so either buy locally or somewhere with a good returns policy. 85>50 imo but...

How about a nice prime instead? Something like a 30mm sigma would compliment your kit lens well for portraits and low light work in old buildings. I realise it's slightly over budget but you'll be blow away by the creative possibility of having such a wide aperture, failing that Canon 35mm F2...
