OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

Almost 2 and a half years late Chris but . . . . took this with the first roll of 400 TX that I put through the MX. I don't think I have gotten results this good on my Nikon D700

    Poor portrait - help appreciated

Leaving aside the technical issues, ( I'm always doing that as a rank amateur:) ) they're both charming pictures of your children, frozen moments in time which you will always treasure

headshots/close portraits question cropping the head

You would think that it is 'all about the face' and therefore whether the head is chopped or not doesn't really matter but I guess it depends on what you like personally. I tried cropping this one to a point around mid brow but comparing them side by side I preferred the uncropped one. I tried...

OFFICIAL I HAVE A NEW (FILM RELATED) TOY THREAD!!

Agree totally ! I bought one new in 1981 and it has served me well for many years. It hasn't been used for over ten though and I have just sent it off to Harrow Technical for a full service and overhaul. Looking forward to getting it back and shooting film again. I love my D700 but feel like...

    D&P

Thank you to everyone for your responses. I had been considering going to the mega meet this weekend anyway so that may well be the decider !! As for public darkrooms, I never imagined such a facility might exist but, having checked the link you provided skysh4rk, I see there is one reasonably...

    D&P

I have been a camera user ( I hesitate to use the term photographer ;) ) for over 40 of my 61 years and yet I have never seen a film developed and printed 'in the flesh' so to speak. I have never had the opportunity to have a set up at home to learn myself and still do not. How can I get to...

does this count as 'street' photography ?

These two guys in Covent Garden were sitting on the pavement outside a shop and I asked them if I could take their photo. They both looked a little bemused at my request but readily agreed

does this count as 'street' photography ?

I think I posted this pic elsewhere but on the topic of what makes a street photo, I think it is any photo taken in public and doesn't necessarily have to have a person/people in it. This one does and I took it on a train leaving London Bridge Stn of a man totally engrossed in his book.

does this count as 'street' photography ?

I like interesting facial expressions - these need not be 'extreme', I either find them interesting or not. My philosophy is that if I personally like a photograph I have taken then I am happy. If someone else likes it too then I am VERY happy !! These are just a couple of random snaps taken...

    Nikon 24-70 F2.8 zoom issue

I hope this problem doesn't occur on the 70-200 f/2.8 VR 11 as I recently bought one !!!

    Will it damage the body?

I understand you asking that question. I have seen a few comments in various photographic mags which say that a heavy lens like that will place undue strain on the body mounting. It certainly would if you were to use a tripod and mount the camera body to it, rather than the lens itself...
