    Issue with 6D metering

So there's no way to ONLY get the camera to meter when I press the focusing button and it will always meter constantly regardless unless I lock the exposure?

    Issue with 6D metering

Sometimes when I shoot, I put my 6D in auto ISO mode. I use back button focusing and sometimes I use the 'focus and recompose' technique. My 6D appears to be constantly metering without me pressing the focus button and when I move the center focal point off the subject I metered from, the ISO...

Memory cards, get what you pay for or are they all the same?

I agree with people who are telling you to avoid cheap cards. I took a chance on a 64GB class 10 SD card made by "Integral" since it was a bargain. I shoot concerts and it was fine for the first show. My second show was a secret gig by a well known band in a tiny venue and it's never going to...

    Sigma 70-200 2.8 OS Lens

I have the Sigma 70-200 2.8 non-OS and I have to admit it's a very good lens. AF is not the fastest, most accurate or most consistent, but in good light where you give it half a chance, it's a good lens. On occasion, it's a GREAT lens. I can only image the newer versions are even better.

    Fixing soft lens in post?

I don't have the lens yet. I've just heard from many sources that it's soft wide open and was wondering if this is something that can be overcome to any useful degree in post.

    Fixing soft lens in post?

This may seem a stupid question, but please bare with me. I know if a shot is soft due to missed focus that there's little you can do in post to fix that, but if a lens is reported to be soft wide open, what are the prospects of overcoming that through PP sharpening to some degree?

    Tamron UK repair costs?

Agree with asking for ballpark figures. You're not asking how much YOUR lens will cost, just to get an idea of what range you're talking about. It's not hard to say that it can be as little as £30 or so much that it's a write-off. I wouldn't trust somewhere that wouldn't help me with an enquiry...

    Canon EOS 7D Owners Thread

Were those shot on auto/program mode? Because they're underexposed which is the 7D trademark in those modes. Say what you want about the 7D, but the metering is terrible.

    Canon 7D - Focusing... WHOA!

Yeah, I also highly doubt that an MFA of +1 will result in the shift from unacceptable images to perfect ones. I'm sure you could do this quietly on most people's cameras and they wouldn't even notice.

Am I about to do something stupid..?

I very rarely crop images. The only situation I'll crop is if I'm capturing a moment like a jump on stage and will frame loosely to avoid anything going out of frame. Even then, we're talking about a very small crop. I'm concerned about someone saying 3200 isn't to their taste, but then again...

    Eos 6d Owners Thread!

If you go with the 24-70 mkI, maybe try MPBphotographic for it used. That's where I picked mine up for a bargain and came in the original box with the lens pouch, checked and with warranty. Better than risking a private sale.

    Tamron UK repair costs?

I think you have to specifically register for the 5 year warranty. You don't get it as standard. Maybe the best option is to call them and ask for a price range of the cheapest and most expensive fix that might be applicable here to give you a ballpark figure.

Sold my 50mm in haste, to buy again or try a different lens?

I'm also not a fan of the 50mm on a 1.6 crop. Sure, it's great for portraits, but he didn't say he was shooting portraits. It's far from a great all-round lens on a crop. Since your budget is so limited, I guess you don't have many options out there. For £60 used, it's about your only option...

    Eos 6d Owners Thread!

Does a Canon 24-70mkIII even exist? I've used both the Tamron & the Canon 24-70 (mkI) on my 6D and I wouldn't trade the Canon for the Tamron for any amount of money. The basic problem in my opinion is AF speed and accuracy, as it almost always is with 3rd party lenses. The Tamron is pretty damn...
