    Sony Help - Manual Mode

Thanks for the clarification. Have played around with it today and, although a little awkward, I think I've got the gist of it.

    Sony Help - Manual Mode

It's ok, maybe I wasn't clear. Holding down the AV button allows me to change the aperture without altering the shutter speed. The AEL button was the only way I knew how to change aperture in manual mode. Thanks for your response though.

    Sony Help - Manual Mode

Hello folks, I'm using a Sony a580 but I guess a number of Sony's will be the same. In manual mode, having selected an appropriate ISO, I want to set the shutter speed - let's say 1/125. I then want to be able to adjust the aperture until I get a correct exposure. But the moment I hold...

Welcome, Alfy. Somewhere in this thread is a list of student blogs for TAOP - a worthwhile place to start when finding your feet. Enjoy.

Emailed images to my tutor in the first instance (along with a PDF of reflective notes). He suggested that it will only be worth making prints after the assignment is complete - i.e. after his feedback. How did your tutor play it?

Genuinely chuffed with your feedback. Ta. The homeless one is good spot. Been having a few focus issues recently. Has something to do with continuous/single/auto focus. When I hold the shutter button and recompose in auto the camera thinks I'm panning and focusses centrally. Have changed it...

Appreciate you taking time out, Byker, to give such comprehensive feedback. To answer a couple of points: - I take your point about the yellow lines (low). As for it's DOF, I did take a number of shots varying from wide open to f/16. The more shallow DOF definitely emphasised the brief...

OCA The Art of Photography Course Discussion Including Assignments and Submissions

Earlier this week I submitted my first TAOP - much later than anticipated. Awaiting my tutor's comments next week. And although he may suggest a couple of changes, all in all it's a good set of images I think (www.richardrowan.blogspot.com) I'm expecting a couple of months off in the summer and...

Here's the official line from the Flickr help section: What happens if my Pro Account expires? If your Pro account expires, don't panic! None of your photos or videos have been deleted! This means instead of enjoying the super-duper capacity of your Pro account, you're now subject to...

Thanks, hewhoknows. I was off work for the first few weeks following enrolment. Back in now and progress has slowed. Need to pick up the pace somewhat.

    Which Sigma 2.8 lens?

Thanks for the advice - makes much more sense now.

    Which Sigma 2.8 lens?

Hello, I'm interested in getting an f2.8 lens for my Sony a580 and I'm struggling with some of the terminology. What's the difference between the two Sigma options? Is it just just the optimised stabilisation feature and macro...

I'm now a few exercises in and have started a learning log/blog. I'm not sure whether people are still viewing this thread, but if so I'd appreciate some feedback... www.richardrowan.tumblr.com Thanks! :D
