I don't know about the reversed macro thing. I got a Pentax Super Takumar 50mm f1.4 for £40 on ebay. Highly regarded. http://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/showproduct.php?product=269&cat=23 It does come in a few variations Super, SMC etc...

I got a 24mm as my prime of choice for the 7D 1.6x crop and I really like it, just on the wide side of normal which is great for interiors in general domestic photography though I don't think it's a particularly popular focal range, at least for a prime, as it's not quite wide enough. J

Agreed on the 50mm being too long on a crop unless you are sure that's the focal length you want. Congrats in re-employment! John

I think the 7d is pure awesome :) I know definitely the 7d has weather sealing, magnesium body, different memory card, less shutter lag, better autofocus, faster frame stills shooting rate. There's not much in it really depending what it is you want it for. J Edit: from a personal perspective...
