Anyone know of a make of stylish camera bags that don't cost a fortune. All the ones I have checked out are boring black. Possibly need a backpack type. I currently have a patterned Hama one which I really like but it is too small now having just acquired another lens!

I've always used backpacks from Tamrac (http://www.tamrac.com) but I don't see camera bags/backpacks as a fashion item, so boring colours are not an issue to me.

Eventually decided on a Jessops Trek backpack. Yes it is black and boring but pricewise can't be beaten. Turned out that I was not prepared to spend over the odds just for a bit of style - which surprised me! Oh well! Practicality over fashion - I must be getting old!

i have ordered from camera warehouse lowepro passport sling, reading reviews it seems ideal for what i want, need to fit camera kit lens, 55-300 lens, i have ordered black ...but available in blue

Crumpler make some colourful backpacks, my daughter wanted a shoulder bag from Golla which are also quite colourful, heres a link to some crumpler backpacks and what they area capabale of holding:

They do! I like the Sinking barge and the Brazillion Dollar Home which, like so many things, I can't find in the UK :(

If you have a stylish backpack - you won't look like a photographer. I know that sounds weird, but to be honest, i quite like humphing my big bag around with my gear - makes me look like i know what i'm doing and stirs up some interest! haha

I wanted a bigger messenger bag myself and was deciding between

  • Lowepro Classified 160 AW
  • Tenba Mini Messenger
  • Think Tank Retrospective 10
  • Think Tank Urban Disguise 35

I currently have a Crumpler muffin top which only fits 1 camera body + accessories, so I wanted a bag to carry one additional lens plus flash. Didn't want to get the larger muffin top models because frankly, the engineering is pretty poor and its only merit is the inconspicuous design.

My local camera stores only have the Lowepro and Tenba but I wasn't too impressed with either (probably because they're display units). I was about to order the Think Tank Retrospective 10 online when I noticed the Lowepro Exchange Messenger bag which seems perfect for my needs. Not so much stylish but minimalist and Amazon has it for 15 quid so I've just ordered one. Hopefully its as good as my other Lowepro bags because otherwise, I may have to spend up to 10 times more for the other bags.
